When the cat masturbates its chin

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

Good job self. Ask me all those questions you've always wanted to ask about coffee--how to order, what different drinks are, etiquette, etc!

do you ever have customers try to order from the alleged secret menu? or pull bullshit like this http://www.buzzfeed.com/jessicamisener/13-starbucks-hacks-you-might-not-have-heard-before#.wdBpG43OV where they ~lyfe hack~ a cheaper drink by jumping through hoops?

(i get secondhand embarrassment when i see articles like that, personally, because it seems like it's more trouble than it's worth just to save a dollar or less...)

Alllll the fucking time. Luckily, most of the time they have their phones pulled up so I can just look at the recipe and figure it out from there, but I've had people come in and ask for an "Ariana Grande" (I wish I was joking) or a "Toffee Apple Crunch" and act like I'M the idiot for not knowing wtf they're talking about.

And as for life hacking~*~ a cheaper drink, our system luckily circumvents some of that automatically but when people are ordering a "venti iced triple espresso with extra 2%" I just ring them up for an iced latte because fuck that shit, you're not paying $2.50 for a venti iced latte. It bugs the shit out of me.

yeah, i can only imagine how frustrating that is. :( i feel awful for anyone who works in a restaurant that has to deal with that kind of shit tbh- like, i saw a ~life hack~ for steak n' shake where you ask for a burger but on sourdough bread with frisco sauce all for the sake of saving 60 fucking cents on ordering a frisco melt. if it were saving more than a miniscule amount of money i might understand it, but again... most of the time it's less than a dollar. just shut up and stop trying to cheat the system you gd cheapskates.

i'm glad your system circumvents some of it, at least.

share with us your favorite tale of unreasonable customer behavior (I'm sure you have a lot)

oh god

I'd have to say either the valiumed-out housewife who just kept repeating her order "yogurt. yogurt. orange juice" while i repeatedly told her she needed to grab those items herself, and then she cried when she realized i wasn't going to come around the counter and grab them for her and threw a big fit

or the woman who came in late while we were trying to close, kept asking me for 'autumn spice' (not a thing that exists) and insisted i was lying when i said we didn't carry that, but we did have pumpkin spice, and THEN mocked me in a sing-song baby voice when i told her thank you, have a nice night

that lady pissed me off so much that i went in the back and made my coworker cover the counter until she left, because i knew i would go off on her if i had to interact with her anymore

honorable mention goes to the guy who wanted me to go in back and get him a "fresh-baked croissant" because the ones in the case looked stale. all of our food is frozen and thawed daily and he didn't believe that i was telling him the truth until i went in back and pulled a still-frozen croissant to show him.

yeaaah, sounds like Starbucks.

One time I had a woman slap my hand away from the water faucet because she wanted ice first in her iced americano and did not tell me this until I was pouring the water. I was so shocked I didn't even respond properly.

woooow WOOOOW fuck that bitch

i would have told her right off, i don't even care if it got me in trouble

that's the kind of scenario where i talk to them like they're 5 and explain that they need to tell us if they want something done a particular way
