you can mourn bowie as a symbol and artist because that's all any of us knew him as. you're not a bad person if you do that or if you're still a fan of his work. this was a pretty well kept secret (and sadly OP is right, it's never going to make big news) that some people are literally just finding out right after he died, while they've spent p much their entire lives listening to him. or you can be like fuck that guy and throw out all your bowie stuff, because that's also a perfectly natural reaction to this sort of thing.

but other people who hate him have a right to express it and the best thing you can do is respect that because in most places on the internet they're going to be completely shut out by his fans.

im gonna be totally serious, i was extremely upset when i heard it. i rushed to try to debunk it myself because who the fuck is this girl, and why am i just now hearing about this? but its undeniable. my point is even tho i myself am heavily anti-rape culture, i contributed to it at first. i didnt want to believe someone i admired so much had done such a thing. but he did. and, well. i feel fucking nauseous about it. i can understand why people are very torn about this but we have to face the facts. it fucking hurts but it happened and shame on david bowie for doing this.
