Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

do they prevent it prevent it tho or just dull the pain and mood swings?

never really appreciated how much "that time of the month" sucks for y'all till i spent a year sharing an apt with one of you

depends on the woman and specific method. my mom didn't have a period for five years thanks to the shot, but she's never been prone to PMS or cramps or anything hormonal really. i have a friend with an IUD who spots occasionally but otherwise nothing. i have another friend with the same IUD who gets a period but it's short and easy.

i also had a friend who went on the pill and her period got 800x worse which is rare but it happens. so it's really a body chemistry thing

more or less they just dull it. this varies from person to person, month to month. some months, i have zero pain or other symptoms. other months, i'm crying in bed and nothing's helping with it. periods suck.

it's all over the charts! most of them lessen how heavy your flow is/your pain (birth control is very, very commonly prescribed to help with awful periods because it really helps simmer down your symptoms), but you still have a monthly bleed. then there are some that only make you have a few periods a year. and then there are some that completely stop it altogether. of course you kind of have to shop around to find something that works for your body, but there are a ton of options out there. it just depends on whatever a woman wants

it's honestly pretty amazing when you start looking in to it
