Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.

Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

Yet we're still seeing quite a skew on some monsters when you add gender to the mix. Any thoughts as to why that's happening?

because women are the weaker sex and always will be

it ain't rocket science but women are forever gonna try to cover it up

which is why demons and gargoyles, the so-called god tier monsters, apparently skew female.

and weres, which are widely-acknowledged as shit-tier, skew male.

ha. hahaha.

oh, no, i realize it perfectly. it's just how laughably absurd it is

... they're talking about it skewing that way in game, anon. not in canons.

(though i recall a female one from tales from the darkside, along with her son and daughter, as well as female gargoyles in the hollows series.)

that one old gargoyle from hunchback

but seriously what has that got to with anything, are you even in the game? get out

So you're saying that the weres are the pern-style green dragons and the demons and gargoyles are the bronzes and golds?

Sorry I'm not going here but I just want to know if there's the same inherent slap-fighting going on with this ranking system you're bringing up.

because there's a skew of female/male chars in general. not to mention, it's about character type. you can't make numbers up out of nothing. if you app in fifty characters, ten of them being women and four of those women fitting shade attributes, that doesn't mean shade is a more feminine choice. it just means there were more female chars with shade attributes than female chars with any other ones. i don't see why this is so difficult to understand. i mean, sure, if you app in, say, an entire female cast of similar char types, it's likely most of them will wind up in the same group. because of char types, not because of gender.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-07 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, this. There are waaaay more male characters in game. And the monsters with the lowest number of females ,Weres, Goblins, Vampires, are some of the most opted out creatures.

I'm sure there's some gender reading into it, even if it's unconscious, but for the most part the results are like they are because the game is male dominated.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-07 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, there are more than two times as many guys as girls, of course that means things skew male a lot...

(Anonymous) 2016-01-07 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
even balancing those, there were a few types of monsters that skewed towards more males than females. on the other hand there were quite a few monster types that skewed female (as in, there were at least less than half as many male monsters of that type than female)

so i get that the monster matching is not based on gender, and that it just so happens that a bunch of female characters were brought in with traits that fit better for harpy and a bunch of male characters were brought in with traits that fit better with werewolves. i still find that interesting!
