Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

are you saying we dont have proof that he took advantage of at least one underage girl

or is her account, that she spoke about long before he died, just "making it up for attention"

Then where are the legit news sources that aren't basically the equivalent of the Enquirer?

That's all we're asking for.

For all we know, they made up that she even said that.

and just so you know i'm not trying to argue with you, really? i am legitimately upset and torn up over this because i love bowie but unless you have a source of her saying "just kidding" about her detailed account of having sex with him multiple times i literally cannot... not believe her. i want to believe he didn't do this. please give me a source on that.

Re: DA

sure you do, because it's innocent until proven guilty. i know that's the reverse of the logic normally used in alleged rape cases, but that does need to change.

but hey if you want a real reason to doubt her, she brought it up during the time David Bowe's cancer worsening and wouldn't have the energy to fully fight it.

it also came off the heels of the cosby thing, and false allegations always increase after a famous person get hits with an actual one.

but you don't really care about her, as much as you care about sticking it to a man do you? it's typical sociopathic behavior systematic of radfems after all.

didn't he keep his cancer 100% secret? how would she know? how can she be acting based on something that's not known?

also, symptomatic*

there are documentaries where she says it on video. she doesn't call it rape, but she mentions her age and that she lost her virginity to him, so

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2016-01-11 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah i think this is why people are being extra pissy about this

1. david bowie is a loved and respected icon, and
2. she says she had fun, the time of her life, etc

that still doesn't make it right. sorry. if bowie was a better person he would not have taken advantage of a 13 yr old girl. i don't care what drugs you were on or that "it was a trend of the time and nobody cared anyway". it's still reprehensible and i honestly thought he was above such a thing.

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2016-01-11 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
oh god are we really falling for ol' I lot my virginity to white snake, bullshit?

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2016-01-11 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
it was the middle of the 60s, she was hanging out with musicians, and i highly doubt anyone thought to ask how old she was if they were all doing drugs/drinking. people make it sound like there was way more information about it passed around than there was. she was a groupie. he was young and high. they mutually fucked. free love. was it bad? yes. but not to the degree of 'david bowie raped a teenager'. it was 'david bowie didn't id while stoned and had mutual sex with a minor'.

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2016-01-11 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
uhhhh it's still rape when it's a 13yo no matter whether he knew or not

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2016-01-11 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Statutory rape is not the same as what most people consider rape as it's based around the technicality of "X was too young to consent even if they've done it wholeheartedly." An 18-year-old fucking a 17-year-old is also statutory rape, no matter if the 17-year-old was consenting.

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2016-01-11 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
uhhh isn't it rape when you fuck someone who is not in a the correct mind to consent either?

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2016-01-11 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
like above anon said, there's a very big difference between statutory rape and rape. lots of consenting couples get slapped with stat rape because one ages out of the 'acceptable age range' and the parents can use it as an excuse. not to mention there's a huge difference between having sex with someone without their consent and having sex with a minor. tbh, i think the term should be changed to something else because no one can see past the word 'rape', which brings to mind forceful and unwanted sex.

sixteen would have been of the age to consent, which could very well be how old he thought she was. there are loads of stories of 20+ guys (and girls) having sex with minors and not knowing because they either didn't think to ask or they were lied to. if a girl tells you she's eighteen and she looks eighteen, you're not going to ask her for her id. finding out she's twelve or thirteen can come as a legitimate surprise to the other party. it happens a lot and has happened a lot in the past, particularly with famous people. (not to say there aren't some roman polanskys here and there, but there's a difference)

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2016-01-11 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
the point is that there really isn't a huge difference. thirteen years old is a child who should not be having sex with a thirty-year-old. don't bring up the 17/18 example like it's remotely comparable to what we're talking about.

It's also an extension of the "I'M MATURE FOR MY AGE" thing, basically. There's a fair number, in my experience, who lie about their age because they believe they should be treated like they're older than they are.

if it was the mid sixties (let's say 1965) bowie would have been 18 not 30

just sayin

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2016-01-12 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
actually, google tells me it was 1972 since that's when she was 13. which would make bowie 25.

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2016-01-12 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
apparently she was 15 when it happened?

there are some conflicting accounts here
