rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Phase is still in the game because she hasn't done anything in-game to warrant giving her the boot. Yes, a few of us probably do remember her explosion over gay marriage, but, to be fairly honest, that shouldn't be a reason to ban someone.

As a few people have said, Phase is so utterly under the radar in this game that a few people had to go and look her up to even realize she was even in the game.

I don't know why the mods didn't automatically ban Phase when she showed up. Maybe they didn't know, maybe they didn't care, but it's obvious they gave her a chance.

actually, it kind of should, since it was out in public for all the world to see. the idea that plurks are somehow out of mods jurisdiction when it comes to making certain players are provided with a comfortable play environment is absurd. just because she wasn't doing it on melodies ooc posts doesn't mean she was doing it where melodies players could see it.

if it made players uncomfortable, it was a reason to ban her, regardless of where it happened.

I think she is an idiot too but we can't start banning people for their political opinions. Unless she has done anything in the game called someone a slur or deliberately tried to cut someone out of plots because they were gay there is no reason to ban her. Her political thinking might not be in line with yours or mine but she is entitled to hold her opinions. If her being in the game makes you uncomfortable just avoid her or better still get to know her become her friend. Maybe if she got to know a few gay people and really saw what people were hoping to achieve with laws like this then she might come around and see the error of her ways. Even if she didn't at least the rest of us would still feel free to express our political opinions on plurk without fear that we too might hold an unpopular viewpoint and find ourselves banned from the game.

she is still entitled to hold those opinions elsewhere. no one is censoring her. but part of the social contract is you don't go shouting something that clearly makes the majority of a group you're part of uncomfortable and expect to fucking get away with it because "muh opinions". that's not how any of this works.

besides, this isn't the same as saying which final fantasy is your favorite or that you don't like undertale. this is holding a set of beliefs that actively threaten and deride the lives of others, whether you're directly calling them worthless faggots or not.

but yo actually address your point, part of a mod's job is maintaining an environment where the majority of their players feel comfortable. that includes who you let into said environment. this shit ain't hard, it's basic modding. games aren't perfect tolerant macrocosms where people of differing ideals and beliefs have to interact. they're just games. and if there's someone in the game whose ideals make the other players uncomfortable, you give them the boot, no matter where those ideals are expressed.

Agree with much of this (for example being allowed to speak your mind, even if your opinions are shitty, so long as you're not calling individuals out) but not the making friends part. It's not our job to educate and normalize and take that abuse so that others will come around.

In a situation like this where I was to rub shoulders I'd only get close enough to watch carefully for anything that could be considered abuse, then report her to the mods.

She creates a toxic environment. That is not good for a game, and there are people not wanting to app because of her presence.

The overall health of the game is way more important than protecting the hurt feefees of a noxious asshole that doesn't even treat their friends with respect.

Racists and homophobes should not get a pass in an environment where we are not legally required to deal with their toxic asses. I get enough of that shit at work. I don't need it in a hobby, and MoL isn't getting my app for it.

I love games like this, but I'm not comfortable with mods who won't do shit to protect their playerbase, current and incoming.

I'm this close to just impulse dropping after learning all this, but there are a few other friends I really like in here that make me not want to.

I'm going to suggest this: take it up with the mods themselves. Even if you guys consider them "shit" for not tossing Phase to the curb the second she did stuff like this, they are reasonable people.

No OBVIOUS sock accounts, no attempted anon postings, PM them or contact them on Plurk or something. Let them know that you want to play, but you won't because she's there and you feel that being there is a deterrent.

This. Phase isn't going to change her tune and it isn't our responsibility to help her do so.

If you want something done then all of you need to speak up whether you're a current, former, or incoming player. Let the mods know you have a problem with her behavior. There shouldn't be need for anon or socking it up since the contact post is screened last time I checked. None of you should have any concerns about Phase finding out.

The mods concern should be preventing these kind of toxic environments from happening and acting in favor of the best interests of their players into account when making these decisions. If you make it clear to them that you're uncomfortable, then they should take action.

the thing is, i'm being told i shouldn't go to them with a sock account. i already don't feel comfortable or safe and i should have to risk my standing in the game and what enjoyment i already have to do so. i understand that they would want accountability but even if it is anon so long as it isn't someone just screaming they're shit or general nastiness and i present why i feel uncomfortable they should listen.

like other people have said, it creates a toxic game environment and it scares off potential players. i can't enable any of my friends between phase and "madiline" and i personally feel like i can't trust the mods under my own name. if they're protecting these people now because they haven't done anything, i don't want to be accused of stirring the pot or have bad standing. as is, they haven't even addressed their feelings on all this wank or even made any kind of statement? they don't even have to be specific even just saying their standing remains the same but treating me and my concerns like they're nothing unless they're logged in and direct when i know they're seeing them is cause for concern. if i didn't love my cr here i would drop just for this reason. i don't have confidence in my mods at all at this point.

did you even read the ooc post they posted a couple days ago? they specifically ask for people to approach them if they feel uncomfortable or want to share a concern.

it's fine if you want to stay anon at all costs. but you shouldn't expect rpanons or wankgate to do your job. if you really want something to be done, contact them.
