they got swept while they were on hiatus during the AC check and couldn't respond to to the warning because they didn't have internet at the time.

iirc they talked to the mods when they found out (they offered to take a strike or to do a reclaim like they had dropped), and the mods responded that they couldn't take back the sweep to be fair to other players and they could reapp the next round after this as per the idling out penalty.

your welcome, and i agree completely even as someone who is friends with the cast

while i understand the frustration because some games keep notice when you're hiatused and exempt you, I'm fairly sure Cerealia is too big of a game to keep track of those things, plus it has a very generous ac window. you shouldn't just assume that kind of thing, and the mods are just doing what they're supposed to do.

And the rules already make it clear that only a hiatus above 2 weeks is considered as full exemption. There's no excuse to not know a game's hiatus rules and then whine about it after the fact, they had plenty of chances to prevent themselves from being idled out.

Correct me if I'm wrong because I haven't been in the game for a long time, but do you have to respond to activity check even though you were on hiatus and are excused? Asking because I remember some people checking in with comments like "Hiatus!"

They were angry the mods were following their own rules and threw a fit over it on plurk. It was a mistake on their part for iirc not having a hiatus long enough to be exempt and/or not asking a friend to just post to AC for them while they're without internet.

They could've taken it gracefully and accepted it, but instead they trashtalked the mods and honestly I wouldn't want to thread with them anyway after that display.

what makes this worse is that they have had the time and ability to declare a hiatus in their other two games so idk how they screwed themselves out of this one. good riddance anyway if they'll behave like that.

They're doing their jobs by not coddling people who can't be damned to double-check the validity of their hiatus.

Of course they're going to wait until the player is swept then, it's not a mod's duty to assume who's on a ~legit~ hiatus and who's not, and anyone with half a brain to think should have proposed an alternative like giving AC in advance or just have filed for one long enough to exempt them.

just like on wg, this is no worse than anything else in that plurk tbh and is edited/positioned without context.
player is in other games, legit did have no internet, and was able to talk to the other game mods to work things out. also realized on their own that the hiatus at cerealia wasn't long enough but still tried to contact the mods about it. iirc mods did not reply or offer any suggestions. player also offered to have a strike or work something out due to hiatus not being long enough (as another anon pointed out) and wasn't asking for a free pass so uh... could be worse.

When did they realize they suddenly didn't have ac? Before or after they went to a third world country without internet? If they knew they weren't going to be able to respond at that time then why didn't they tell the Cereal mods sooner or ask one of their fourteen other cast mates to check in for them?

but really how hard is it to send an email to the mods when going on hiatus if you know you're going to be gone during the AC check? that seems like something that should have been fully preventable.

The anon who posted it stated it was edited to not include others and get them in trouble. If there's more, that's pertinent, then provide information rather than complain or reiterate what has already been said.

They said so themselves in the hiatus comment (That they expected not to have net access), and this was the same month in which there was a mod post stating that the 14 days of hiatus have to fall between the first to the last day of the month for an exemption.

so they had 14 days, but part of it was in one month and part of it was in the next month? sorry i'm not in the game so i'm trying to get a clear picture if how this works.

That's correct. They had around a month actually, but only 10-11 of those days accounting for timezones were between December 1st to 31st, so they would in fact have been exempt from January's AC as most of the hiatus days were in the period that January's AC would have been.

Tl;dr: Minimum for full exemption is 14 days within the month of the AC, not before that month and not after. Hope that helps.
