Make that anon suffer

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

"being anti-kin is frequently masking ableism" no it's just not catering to mental delusion. sorry that doesn't float your boat.

if you legitimately think you are a kitsune magician hailing from the seventh mystical plane of existence then yes, you are mentally ill. no, that's not up for debate. the fact that even needs to be explained to you should stand as proof you have no business modding an actual game.

Man listen, you honestly think people who are kin don't know they're mentally ill? Like shit, it's kinda obvious. People kin for a whole bunch of different reasons, but it's formally a coping device. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone, it's fine. Seriously. If you're going to act like you have a degree in this shit and try to research an excuse for your ableist bullshit, at very least don't be so lazy about it. Do some research.

Explain to me what's so harmful to you about other people being kin anyway? Is it just annoying or something? "Argh damn that person I don't even know is a dog! This is upsetting my rigid belief in the hierarchy of beings as illustrated in this 6th century manuscript painstakingly inked by smelly monks who didn't wash their asses."

i don't give a fuck if someone thinks they're a dog. i start to give a fuck if they act like people not agreeing that they are a dog is tantamount to ableism.

It is ableism? How is it not? I'm not seeing your point here anon other than "I hate fun and neurodivergant folks but I ESPECIALLY hate neurodivergant folks having fun without wanting to be shat on for being neurodivergant"

i was wondering when the assumption that anyone disagreeing is neurotypical would show up.

look, not enabling someone's coping mechanism when it becomes detremential to their health isn't ableism.

no one gives a shit if you cope with your own mental illness by thinking you're something different to what you are. the danger is when you can't seperate the reality from the coping mechanism and insist that the coping mechanism is the reality. you're essentially telling people that they're ablelist for not enabling what is essentially a delusion.

that delusion might be symptomatic of a mental illness but it's not something that should be necessarily enabled, just like someone who sees things that aren't there should be told that what they see is real.

You got a degree in this pal? Cause like idk idk most kinfolk know their body doesn't match who they are. Or like, they're systems and the system members aren't human. Like can you divine the nature of a soul or something? You got proof that there's nothing embodying these flesh sacks?

And you know with most delusions, if you're acting within the moment, it's totally alright to treat the emotions linked to the delusion as real and generally you only say if something isn't there if the person asks. And again, a lot of people know that's it's a delusion, but like. It is real to them anyway and that's valid. What's up?

Also: no not everyone who is antikin is neurotypical but they're generally not on the psychotic spectrum, least from what I've seen.

at my lowest points i legitimately think people can read my thoughts and think i'm a human wastebasket. the most terrible thoughts and images flash across my brain regularly.

not once would people telling me my delusions aren't real be ableism get the fuck out of here with that garbage.

but they're not real, in the sense that you AREN'T a wastebasket and people CAN'T read your thoughts. saying so is not ableism.

How about this, you (general you) keep your kin-ness out of the rp experiences and those who are anti-kin won't say anything about it. Both sides win!

There is no reason it should ever be an issue because there's no reason for it to come up in rp.

See how easy that is?

(frozen comment) Re: nayrt

(Anonymous) 2015-11-05 12:56 am (UTC)(link)

As someone with the papers to show I have a mental illness (and am not just self diagnosed so I can be a special snowflake too) I think I know what I'm talking about.

I'm not saying hide it but there is literally no reason what so ever for it to come up in rp. The people on my plurk timeline have no idea about my medical issues other than some days I have bad days and can't tag--that's it.

And yes, it's really easy to hide something like being a kin...you just don't talk about it except with people on tumblr who also think they're kin.

Man, listen. Buddy. I have the papers too. I was diagnosed this summer and what'd you know it lined up exactly with what I was saying I had prior to getting the big fancy official papers. But that's kind of an aside.

I mean, you could. If someone wants to not come out as kin, that's their business. But if someone is and someone else starts saying shit in the ooc group or being real rude to someone's character, that's another story and that's why that rule is there. Like we already have a character in rp that's canon multiple with a system member who's nonhuman. It could come up both in rp and in the ooc chat.

i have a legitimate question about this concerning fictionkin

i've had friends who fell too far into their kin things because they started rping their character and decided they'd rather live in the rp world than the real one and became possessive towards rp partners.

is there any protocol to go to the mods with concern if the rp begins affecting someone's mental health and well being?

secondly is there going to be protocol to dealing with players who cannot differentiate the ic/ooc blur to kin feelings? i've deleted blogs in the past bc players who are kin to their characters got possessive and aggressive abt someone playing "them".

i'm all for people doing what they feel is good but im less open minded after having repeated bad encounters w/ fictionkin in particular

(havent had any other problems tho tbh)
