Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.

My problem with anon mods is that there's...less personal responsibility, I guess? It's easier to flake off and just abandon the game without any personal repercussions, and open up a new one in a month without anyone knowing you're a shit mod.

And I'd also be really embarrassed if I made a close personal friend who I vented about the game to at times, and then found out they were a mod. I am friends with mods at one game I play, and I never vent to them because it just seems obnoxious to do so.

All of this. Anonymodding just seems like a convenient way for the people behind the mod account to duck responsibilities. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I'd like to know who's running the ship so I can decide for myself if the game looks like it'll die within a month or turn into a cliquey circlejerk or have a shot at being something awesome. Also, yeah... not knowing who the mods are just means people who would normally vent to a gamemate in private will probably take it here or to anticirclejerk.

I don't think I'd ever join a game with mods I can't see. For all we know, they could be one of the prizewinners from Caligo.

I personally don't mind anonymods, because I figure it's about the same chance of good/bad mod as you get with mods you've never heard of. Equal chance of turning out batshit crazy or excellent. I can understand being wary of investing in a game like that, but it doesn't seem more or less dangerous than non-anon mods to me in that sense.

As for venting to gamemates, just go to ones you've known for a while or ones you trust. Either way, if they're not actually batshit mods and you're not exploding all over everything I don't really see anything to worry about.

Though, I guess most people would find that a hassle. To each their own.

+1

If they're a good mod, they won't care that you're just venting.
