as for your question, maybe start out with memes first before jumping into games? <username=bakerstreet> is one of the meme communities. memes being strings-free RP without the pressure of AC (activity check -- most games require you to have a certain amount of comments or game posts a month in order to stay in the game) since it can be overwhelming when you're just starting out.

another option is <user name=dear_player>, though that's a little meta and not really indicative of how RP works here. Dear Player is as if your character is speaking to you/aware of your existence, which is a kind of fourth wall breaking that doesn't occur in games. still, a lot of people use it for voice testing (trying out a character's "voice" or personality).

unfortunately, a lot of games i would suggest for a newbie are either closing or on their last legs, so i don't have many recs there but maybe someone else does.
