More of a 'for future reference' type thing, but what games aren't jamjar? Either the type that allows characters to return home whenever, or au. I don't mind, but the character i'm thinking about playing would not deal well with being stuck in a jamjar.

smashacademy is non-jamjar by default but allows jamjarring as an individual option. Rarely, there might be an event that temporarily traps characters. I don't see a lot of it lately, but characters are free to return to their home worlds, and also allowed to take warp pipes/flying pokemon/magic music vans/whatever and go romping around in other worlds as well.

the only catch is that smash only accepts characters that originate from video games

if they did they'd probably have exactly the same problems as cdc

competition and mission-based games are just not a good fit for dwrp imo

a game with shit for my characters to do to be productive that isn't a) teach or b) own a business

idk soul campaign did pretty well (though the mods DID play favorites at times). the biggest problem it had was people wanting to not participate in fighting or who only wanted to handwave missions or fights and only wanted to play slice of life.

i think a game with smaller groups or just pairs/solo in missions would work better?

probably not the kind of missions you're looking for, but Super Robot Wars Unification has missions run in an AIM chatroom

you can go on small group missions in teleios though i'm not sure if there's an exact method for getting chosen. i think you have to ask the mod ooc to have your character go on one.

What games are particularly welcoming to PBP beginners? I've done a lot of chat-based RPs, but I'm interested in trying something on DW or Tumblr or something.

I'm looking for a game for the Tenth Doctor, preferably no sex games, and something with an easy activity check and at least some kind of plot. I'm open to mostly anything, however, so none of this is set in stone.
