Super Robot Wars Unification

SRWU is a small, multi-fandom crossover DWRP inspired by and named after Super Robot Wars, a popular franchise of turn based strategy games based around giant robot combat.

The game's setting is a futuristic and perilous one. The Earth Sphere is endangered by many threats, including aliens, monsters, hostile human groups and many more. To battle these threats, an organisation titled Unity Group was formed - and players take the role of its members or allies. Yet even in this situation there are those willing to use Unity Group for their own selfish ends.

Canons accepted into SRWU become an integral part of the setting, and their events play out during the course of the game. There is also an option to app a character without their corresponding canon events, or to app a character with assumption their canon ended already (offscreen).

Applications are always open. SRWU accepts all kinds of giant robot canons, media and obscurity do not matter. Non-mecha canons can also be accepted if they fit thematically. OCs are allowed.

An important part of the game are "missions" - played in realtime over instant messengers such as AIM (we also consider using irc), they represent combat operations during which players fight enemies controlled by a mission running mod. Missions are used to advance the plot of almost every canon, and are always scheduled in advance to make sure everyone interested can attend them.

Interest Gauge + Help Needed

The Premise
Your character is approached by Tala, a little girl. Is she a ghost, a spirit? Does she appear in a dream, in their car, at their breakfast table? Whatever the case, she makes her case. Looking half-transparent and scared, she begs the character for help. She escaped this long, but now the Darkness is coming.

Won't you help?

Tala's world has been consumed. Not much is left anymore at all, and her world's Goddess of Fortune has lost too much power to keep trying to push the Darkness back, or at least keep it from consuming the pitiful rest. So Tala is being cast through the fabric of reality, to reach out to those who might listen, who might help - after all, who says the Darkness will ever stop? What does your character need, what do they desire? Power, immortality, money, unrequited love returned, dead loved ones brought back, themselves brought back to life - whatever it is, the Goddess is willing to grant it the moment the Darkness has been defeated.

Your character can come along willingly - or they can refuse, to be taken by a tearful Tala against their will.

The Setting

Whether they're willing to help or not, they find themselves torn out of their lives and transported into a derelict prison. Parts of it look modern, parts of it look almost sci-fi, parts of it look medieval. All of it is in a state of decay. Broken glass, crumbling walls, long-dry smears of blood, the occasional bone or two. The lights in some areas of this prison are always on. In other areas, it's always off.

Don't go into into the darkness, not on your own - not if you wanna come back out in one piece. Something without mercy lurks in the darkness, and a Warden haunts the abandoned hallways, ready to take those not careful enough and drag them into solitary confinement. Where can you sleep? How can you reach the canteen and its food reserves? Good luck figuring it out. Welcome to your home, it's not comfortable, and there's no outside. Not just no way outside, but literally no outside left. The further up you go in the building, the less 'finished' it looks. And downstairs, there's an ominous door leading to the basement.

Tala brands all incoming characters with a tattoo around their wrist. Smudged black symbols, of which only one is clear and in color. Some characters share 'active' symbols, some don't. Powers? Gone, but memories are intact, because you gotta count small victories.

The Gameplay
You wanna get out, you have to defeat the Darkness, whatever all that entails. Tala certainly doesn't know, hey, she's just a little girl. There's the basement though - and now and then it opens. The Darkness is sealed at the bottom of the basement, and your characters will have to participate in trials to break the seals of the cage the Goddess of Fortune trapped the Darkness in, the cage it's slowly leaking out of, and has to be stopped before it can break free once for all - of the cage, and of the ruins of this world. The basement will spit out monsters, horrors, torture, psychological hurdles. There will be arena fights, riddles, random horrors, large-scale events, your character's worst nightmares, challenges and more...

Those symbols? They mark characters as team mates. So you better arrange yourself with your team - and the fact that you have to stand against your friends and loved ones, or work with your foes. This isn't summer camp, you have to make due. Solve a riddle, get rewarded - with powers previously taken, with pain being eased, with more supplies. Fail to kill a monster, get punished. You suffer with your team, and you find relief with your team.

Sometimes, the basement changes the world around trapped characters, as if they're in different worlds. They can explore the game's backstory, uncover secrets, figure out what happened - and decide what to do with that knowledge, too.

Game Mechanics
- Loss of Powers: Powers are stripped, but upon apping into the game have to be listed anyway. They'll be entered into a Lottery and will sometimes reappear as potential rewards in trials. But there's a catch... because someone else could end up with that power, too.
- No network: But walkie talkies for audio communication
- No Auto-Pilot: If your character is on hiatus, they were caught by the Warden and put in solitary confinement. If your character is dropped... they just disappear from that.
- Teamplay: Coordinate and plot with team mates, and with or against "enemy" teams. Throw a challenge because you can't bear to watch your brother on the other team lose? Backstab a loved one to give your team the upper hand?
- Player Choice: The choices your character makes, from the moment of apping into the game, matter. How much your character learns and how they act upon their knowledge is their choice. It can and will influence some of the game's smaller details and overall storyline.
- Heavy elements of (psychological) horror, survival, some elements of torture.
- Changing environment: Your characters can make the library suitable to live in. But be careful... next app cycle, the lights might go out there, and turn on somewhere else, and then you better scramble to get out unscathed.

And the problem
This is just a skeleton of course. The rough details of the backstory exist, ideas for events/trials exist, but I'm just one person and lack modding experience. What I also lack is experience with coding and graphics work. Are there people out there interested in this type of game, in helping shape it into something concrete, make it something playable and fun? Any and all feedback and help would be appreciated.

i wish i could apologize to both of you, but i know it's a bad idea. we were all at fault and all shitty to each other, but i've spent ages seeing it from a very biased point of view. i finally have perspective and i've been itching to contact you to say sorry for months now. i know at least one of you would get angry hearing from me, maybe both of you. i just wish i could resolve this. it can't be fixed and i don't want to fix it, i just want to have it make sense and have the loose ends tied up so i can move on.

i can't help but think i'd be apologizing for selfish reasons or that it'd be one-sided and i'd be the only one to admit being in the wrong. you'd also probably think it's ridiculous that i'm still upset over this after so long. i really hate that even now i'd be worried about you judging me. you did a number on me and if i were to apologize and not get anything in return it'd just be devastating.

i also really miss you sometimes. i miss doing dumb stuff together and i miss how funny you guys are. i wish we'd found each other when we were healthier. maybe we'd still be friends.
