if you take the sexual nature of rape out and look more at what it is and what it does to the person it happens to, it does make sense. it's one person forcefully taking something from another by stripping their control and ability to consent. often it leaves the person physically, emotionally, mentally compromised.

no actual rape happened, but her wings are the symbol of the last of her innocence and it was violently taken from her.

dumb anon from above and ohhh ok i get you. i thought that was probably what anon meant but i wasn't sure i didn't just miss something completely. i never knew jolie actually mentioned it though, that's... uncomfortable. and unnecessary, yeah. that scene fucked me up because of how emotionally she portrayed it but now its sort of ruined.......... gross

It sounds like she played it for what it is. That, to me, isn't gross, but kind of nice, for once. Because it does fuck a person up and it is an emotional thing. I'd say that the scene fucked you up is a GOOD thing because it's meant to be a horrible action.
