Thankee sai

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.

Do you have any phobias?

How/when did you develop them?

large open bodies of water -- mostly the ocean, but if a lake is big enough it freaks me right the fuck out, too

i was attacked by a shark when i was 9

I have a phobia of dead bugs, I guess. They have to be dead to count. Live bugs don't bother me nearly as much.

It comes from freshman biology when our teacher gave us large dead grasshoppers. I never had a problem with the dissections in class or anything (we did both frogs and minks), but this was our introduction to using the equipment or whatever.

The boys grouped with me thought it would be funny to break off the legs and flick them at each other. (Kind of like a game of paper football.) I sat there awkwardly until one of them misjudged and a leg went into my mouth while I was talking to the person next to me.

I remember losing it and fleeing from the room to throw up and rinse my mouth out with lots of water. Apparently my distress was quite a thing, because after my teacher followed me to figure out what happened, he dragged them out of class, shoved them up against two lockers and tore them both new ones about how you don't play around with things like that.

To this day, I can't pick up and dispose of dead bugs and I can't bring myself to squish them myself either, because then I'd have mashed body parts to deal with and I just can't.

I don't know if this is an actual "phobia," but I get really scared whenever I have to drive over a really high bridge or up anything steep enough. It's not as bad if I'm a passenger, but I still freak out if it feels like the driver is taking it too fast. I learned to grin and bear it because I lived in a place where curved overpasses were a regular driving encounter, but... Ugh. Nooo.

It's so dumb, but I developed it because of recurring nightmares where I'm driving/riding in a car, go up a curve too fast, fly off the side, and die. I don't even know why I have nightmares like that... I've never had a driving scare in my whole life! But I keep having them.

Oh, and before I forget! Yes, it does freak me out if I see other people driving off bridges and dying in movies and on TV and stuff. It's not awful, but I can't help but cringe and look away.

Mirrors.

When I was a child I sometimes saw a woman looking at me through them.

Worms.

I don't recall it, but apparently I've been terrified of them ever since I was a kid. My mom said when I was a little bitty thing if I was outside and I accidentally found one, I'd just suddenly be frozen in place crying and screaming.

She is just as dumbfounded about it as I am, especially considering I caught and played with other bugs.

trypophobia

i don't know why exactly but my sister says it's sort of an evolutionary revulsion we have so that we avoid rotten things / spoiled food with maggot holes.

I'm not alone ;A;

Needles and anything under the skin. I panic, hyperventilate, and usually barf.

My first panic attack was when watching The Mummy and seeing the scarabs, actually.

Pool drains.

I have no idea how I developed it. It's just an irrational fear I've always had since I was little. I've never feared being sucked down a drain, nor do I have an irrational fear of my hair getting caught in the filtration system or anything. I just hate looking at them or feeling them.

The sad thing is, I absolute love to swim. I just avoid diving really deep in certain places in the deep-end.
