I'll avoid people in memes or DRs if I see that they regularly post with certain muses. And by certain muses I mean ones that are played so ooc that it's impossible to miss it. I figure if you play with them you haven't got much in the way of standards yourself and won't be IC with your own character.

Does this apply only to when a character they're threading with is from their canon, or just anyone?

I ask because oftentimes when I'm tagged by strangers I know fuck all about their canon/what qualifies as IC.

Only their own canon. I only figure you should at least know your own canon well enough to recognize really drastic ooc. Everything else is fair game.

fuck you. sometimes, the people who are the least "perfect" are fun to play with, but that doesn't mean i put any less effort into my characterization.

I do this too to a certain extent. If I see someone threading regularly with someone who plays a really bad version of the same character I do, I'll avoid tagging the person who regularly tags with them.

The way I see it, if those people enjoy playing with the ooc version of my character, I'm not going to like threading with them, and it's just going to be awkward when they don't get what they're expecting from me anyway.

anon, are you me? There's a terrible version of the character I play running around. I avoid people that thread with her too. Luckily there aren't many, even her dear_mun posts usually go unanswered.

I enjoyed act 1 of Homestuck. The kids are just more interesting than the trolls.

every time someone ~~warns new readers about/away from the first few acts or proudly says they skipped to act 5 i want to punch their teeth in. how the fuck would you even understand the jokes, much less the plot?

guys it's basically Kids Do the Darndest Things except they're thirteen and summoning space meteors from the futurepast and they sometimes mention puppet ass or make piss jokes!

this is basically the exact vein of humor most of anoncomm feeds off of!!

Kids are my favorite part of HS and still are, and will probably always be. Same goes for Act 1.

Act 1 is so great, the opening sequence with John looking up at the sky and thinking it's going to be a long day is a panel I can fully say that I love with all of my heart.

Really, I only read up to [S] Descend when I do re-reads, because up to those points are the ones that really interest me. I could never just "skip to act 5."

the kids are so, so, so much better than the trolls. i agree. i like a few of the trolls but overall i wish they had their own story. i prefer when homestuck is solely about the kids.

I far prefer the kids to the trolls but Act 1 nearly made me give up reading. I didn't actually get interested in what was going on until around Act 3.

I really hate that my cute fluffy G-rated fandom is dominated by ~edgy~ grimdark murder and porn, and my scary grimdark fandom is dominated by monsters in maid outfits and kawaii desu buttsex. Liking a canon for what it is makes me feel like the odd one out sometimes and that's ridiculous.

Is the G-rated one MLP?

haha we must be in the same scary grimdark fandom. i don't really get it, though i suppose it might have something to do with wanting to supply something the canon doesn't have -- and, since my scary grimdark fandom is a horror game, wanting some kind of catharsis after you play it and ruin your underwear. the kawaii desu buttsex still absolutely baffles me though

it annoys me that people aren't allowed to express their feelings on anything on Plurk without someone thinking they just want buttpats

yeah I can see saying how AWFUL everything is everyday can be annoying, but sometimes I do actually need reassurance that people do enjoy roleplaying with me
