Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.

Hey! This is the designated catch-all entry. This is not an invitation to spam to your heart's content. The same rules apply.

apparently Stanned hardcore for C

Man, it took me way too long to get you were turning "Stan the Fan" into a verb. But now I'm nostalgically remembering Eminem lyrics.

Back to the point of the matter, whoa, that's pretty freaky. Did you lose the crazy after they backpedaled or did they show up for more later?

haha i capitalized it because it's a reference to the song, yeah. i always thought that using 'stan' as a verb is especially appropriate when it comes to really, really crazy fans.

and to answer the question: after their apology message, i never heard from them again. i wonder if they're still out there lurking and raging over pretendy funtime roleplay games by people they don't even know.

I would not be surprised. I also wouldn't be surprised if there's more than one out there like this. I know a friend of mine got wanked on for her cross-canon pairing in the wake of 'but they should be with [canon person who is not even in the game]' opinions. We still don't know who stirred that pot.

wow. man, it's incidents like this that make me pause and remember that all roleplay hosted here really is public and just about any crazy person from the internet can stumble on it and unleash the raaaaaage.

I know, right? I just can't see putting that much investment into something you're not involved in. But then... crazy. It tends to overshadow the usefulness of the scroll bar.

"Stanning" or being "a stan" is Oh No They Didn't lingo that's leaked out onto the rest of the internet. It means obsessive fan, like a "Britney (Spears) stan" or a "Gaga stan." You're right, it is a reference to the Eminem song.

Heh, I figured it was something like that. I had never seen the terminology before, but it was easy to pick up on. It's interesting to know where it originated!

the hosts on entertainment tonight or one of those primetime entertainment shows used it a few months ago too.

i thought i had died and gone to a weird fandom-infested purgatory.
