Thankee sai

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.

Honestly, it's not that abnormal. Some characters just have a hard time growing at all close to people and on top of that there's always loads of drops in any game so it could well be that you also just have shit luck and get involved with the characters that don't stick. Also sometimes you just get real lucky and have some awesome chemistry with someone right off and sometimes it takes a bit more work.

I have noticed one thing that really can help form those bonds is to take advantage of the fact that people in that game love to backtag. Long threads make it easier to really form bonds even with the types of who don't want to. I definitely see with all those people who grow real close that you see tons of long threads with them. Nothing says you have to be fast, just be willing to keep on chugging away. There's players out there perfectly willing to backtag for a month or more and those long threads are likely to build a lot more than a short thread will.

Also, I'd advise to not bother so much with trying to get CR with characters in huge casts. You just aren't as likely to be successful because those characters have enough to keep up with just in their own casts, plus it's far easier to get dragged into cast drama since the large casts nearly always have some drama going on. I've found I have a lot better luck with the smaller casts and lone canon warriors.

It's funny you mention the drops thing! That's exactly what happened in the last game I was in.

I'm definitely taking advantage of the backtagging. The fact that I'm actually getting to finish threads is absolutely amazing and I love it. I have built some CR through longer threads, but none of it is super close. Hopefully, it'll get there, though.

You do make a good point about the casts, though. I've been apprehensive about tagging people who are in...well, any casts, but I might try tagging with characters from smaller casts to see if anything comes from it. There are some characters from smaller casts that I'd like to try and form CR with because they just seem like fun characters.

Thanks for the advice, anon! It's definitely appreciated.
