Thankee sai

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.

i just assume anyone who complains about "cliques" is basically that dorky kid who sits alone and silently loathes all the popular kids who sit together because the popular kids, who are busy enjoying their healthy and well-established friendships, won't drop everything and go out of their way to befriend some random lonely dork

(Anonymous) 2012-03-01 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
I never pay attention to it. "Clique" = "friends."

(Anonymous) 2012-03-01 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
I'm in a clique and still make an effort to tag both my own posts, my cr, and posts/characters I find interesting.

I don't feel bad about it.

Does I really count as being cliquey if you definitely run in a certain social circle but still tag outside it?

(Anonymous) 2012-03-01 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
*does it

(Anonymous) 2012-03-01 07:40 am (UTC)(link)
I've been told I'm getting cliquey by a friend of mine. While I don't necessarily agree, since my circle is pretty large in our game and we all tag outside of each other regularly, I don't think they'd say so unless they were absolutely sure. I could be missing something, after all!

Still, though, I think tagging things and characters you're not necessarily interested in just for the sake of saying you're not cliquey is counter-intuitive. You can still be open to CR and non-cliquey without being all over the place.

+1

HOLY SHIT I WAS JUST BITCHING ABOUT THIS.

I don't assume this about everyone, but about half the time, yeah.

I've been in one of the so-called "cliquey" games (which might be all of them), and the people there who were supposedly the worst offenders had been playing in that game for years together, they all knew each other very well and some had hung out in real life.

Yes, they paid less attention to me because I was a random stranger. A few tagged me, but not as quickly or as often as they did their friends. Which only makes sense, and I had no problem with it.

i only start screaming "cliques" when i:

1) have an interesting character
2) post on a regular basis of them doing interesting things, or things that should be an easy opening to invite new CR and strengthen old CR, be it positive or negative
3) respond to tags with moderate speed (i'm not super fast and sometimes can only manage one tag a day for all my threads, but i don't exclude anyone or drop them)
4) make a reasonable effort to socialize in plurk, even if it's just a quick "good morning/afternoon/evening/holiday" to those sorts of plurks

...and all that falls flat on my face anyway.

what am i doing wrong here. i'd like to know.

I just assume that people that write what you do only join games for buttsex in their favorite OTP with their friends and do nothing otherwise.

Makes about as much sense as what you wrote.

Whenever somebody throws around the word 'clique' now I have to wonder if they understand what they're talking about.

I see a clique as a group of people who are friends that refuse to tag outside of their group UNLESS they are tagging in the hope to bring the target into their clique.

>popular kids
>their healthy and well-established friendships

That must be a wonderful little fantasy world you live in, anon. Pity it has no relationship to...actual reality.

(Anonymous) 2012-03-01 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously, you don't have to be popular to have healthy and well-established friendships.

(Anonymous) 2012-03-01 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
i never said you did

what

(Anonymous) 2012-03-01 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
since when does being popular preclude having healthy friendships, anon?

(Anonymous) 2012-03-02 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
So you've never been in a popular group then. Ok.

(Anonymous) 2012-03-01 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure you would feel that way, Regina George. Like, omg.

(Anonymous) 2012-03-02 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
I feel sorry for them. It's so easy to become bitter and blame other people when you're shy or have subpar social skills.

If the game is genuinely suffering from too many people too content with their CR and/or friend groups to tag outside of them, I feel sorry for them even more.
