Unfunny wanky stereotypes

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

that's possible but i'm pretty sure she thought we were talking shit about her

could be she was paranoid or schizophrenic. even someone on their meds can have certain triggers to things that they react to. hell, for all you know she could have been shoved in shitty homes and institutions and knew it was coming when people around her started whispering.

i'm not saying that that makes her freaking out on you any better or that she was in the right for doing it, but it can help to empathize with people's scenarios sometime.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2014-03-02 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
that's not how someone with paranoid schizophrenia would react though.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2014-03-02 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
so maybe she wasn't a paranoid schizophrenic. or maybe she wasn't that bad off? there are varying degrees of schizophrenia, anon. not everyone reacts the same way.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2014-03-02 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
more likely she was just a busybody with mild anxiety.

honestly? i'm a little bothered you didnt take that woman seriously. even if she DID think you were talking shit about her, guess what? it's still reasonable to at least ask you to stop. i used to suffer from extreme paranoia and i too would freak out over people whispering near me. my oldest brother also used to be this way, and he had diagnosed paranoid schizophrenia. whispering around him could be disastrous.

be more respectful, god damn.

wow i was ninjad lmao

(Anonymous) 2014-03-02 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
ha ha. i grew up in the system and had a few schizophrenic housemates, so... yeah. i know there can be a lot of weird triggers for that and that there are a variety of problems and disorders that could be exacerbated by people just doing something as banal as whispering together.

Be prepared for a swarm of OMG GET THERAPY FUCK YOU YOU'RE NOT A SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE DON'T ASSUME ANYTHING

Nobody should assume anything about possibly mentally-afflicted people either. Maybe if people were more predisposed to just be considerate if someone politely asks you to stop doing something this wouldn't be a problem though.

They took your comment didn't they.

so what are they supposed to do, talk about it out loud? it's one thing to ask someone to stop talking loudly but people usually lower their voices/whisper when they're trying to be courteous to people around them. they were being respectful.

they were whispering over something trivial that she admitted was trivial. if the whispering itself bothered the woman and they wanted to be helpful, they could have just stopped talking about a guy on the same train like he couldn't potentially hear the shit they were saying about him. don't talk about things in public you wouldn't want someone overhearing, same with don't talk about shit on the internet you don't want to come back to you.

the woman wasn't in the right, but the anon who told her to mind her business wasn't helping the situation and was also talking kind of objectifyingly about someone that was in the vicinity. it's not like she was sharing state secrets or anything. hell, for all we know, maybe the lady heard what they were saying and was disgusted with it and that's why she asked them to stop.

it doesn't matter what they were talking about. it was none of the woman's business what they were whispering about, full stop. for all she knew it could have been some important private matter that they needed to discuss but didn't want everyone else overhearing.

the woman should've minded her own business, that's all there is to it.

first off, you missed what i said about her being able to hear it. just because they were whispering doesn't make the conversation sacred. if i was whispering with a friend about blow jobs and fucking someone or doing drugs and someone told me to stop talking about it, getting pissed about it is not the mature reaction. realizing 'oh, shit, someone overheard that and got upset, i guess i should shut up now' is.

who knows what anon was saying? maybe they were just 'ooh, he's cute', or maybe they were 'i want to pull his pants off and lick his balls'. no one should have to hear talk like that in a public area. if they'd wanted to have a private conversation, they shouldn't have been chatting about how hot or not this guy was on a train.

lol

were you the nosy woman on the train, anon?

except saying "you need to stop whispering because it makes me nervous" implies that she couldn't hear what was being said so your point is null and void

if it freaks you out to hear people fucking whispering, bring headphones. deal with your own shit, it is not the world's job to coddle you.

yes

mouth noises and lip smacking drive me up a fucking tree, but I either remove myself from the situation or use earplugs or headphones.
