Premise Welcome to the world of Pokemon... And the lands of Wishgranter Island, known to the residents as a land where the Gracidean Flowers bloom. It clearly isn't where you were the day before - or, even the moment before. Inside the halls of the Flower Point Guild, you awaken to a strange avian-like Pokemon - a Togekiss, she says. And... wait. Is that a paw? Or a tail? You've become a Pokemon, it seems! Why? All you remember is an odd dream, being tickled by feathers and hearing pleas for help. At least, for now, Togekiss has offered you a home and a place in the guild. Will you become an explorer, and try and find a way home? Or will you live your life as a Pokemon? Information Gracidean is a panfandom, AU and OC-friendly roleplay set in the world of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. Characters are turned into Pokemon, brought to a world untouched by humans, and sent out to live or explore this new world. Many mysteries await for whoever is brought into the world. There is going to be a strong emphasis on the plot, and the game is set to last roughly around 1.2 years, or four in-game months. There is also a 4:1 OOC:IC time scale.

So I got a lot of good advice last time and here are a few things I'm leaning towards:

NPCs: No all-powerful god NPCs. There will be a supernatural force causing some events and dragging characters into the game but most of the conflict will be player vs. player, or players vs. beatable NPCs. Some NPCs will be helpful or neutral rather than enemies.

Setting: I've made a setting with technology equivalent to the early/mid-20th century - the golden age of the Universal Monsters, after all. It allows for a good mix of fantasy, horror, and mad science-esque shenanigans, I think.

Tone: There will be body horror and that's...well, kind of unavoidable with this concept, but the game won't be outright horror in tone. Fitting with the time period it's based on, I'm going with a more 'speculative fiction' tone, for a good mix of genres. There'll be lots of opportunity for horror (and you'll be able to play out whatever you like, gore/violence will not be restricted), but also for adventure, fantasy, and even some sci-fi if you'd rather. It won't be an outright torture game or a terrible-things-constantly-attacking game.

Events: Not ruling out jamjar-style events completely but they won't be too frequent if they happen (there will be a meme comm for crack needs, though).

Monster Choice: Currently I have twenty options (Vampire, Wendigo, Wraith, Werewolf, Werebear, Kelpie, Selkie, Dryad, Merfolk, Naga, Minotaur, Harpy, Satyr, Faerie, Troll, Goblin, Gargoyle, Demon, Kitsune, Nekomata) and am looking at allowing five opt outs. I would like the surprise element to stay, however there is one concern brought up to me that I'll outline below. There will be some customization! For example, the Dryad could go in more of an Audrey II direction if the player wished. Any further monster suggestions are also welcome.

Concerns:
-Randomness or Mod Choice?: It was brought up to me in PM that having mod-selected choices may draw some ire if the mods misinterpret a character or are perceived as having misinterpreted a character, and may cause some mod headaches if too many people decide to try and convince the mods that we were wrong and should change. Would the opt-outs + random selection be a better option or would you guys still prefer mod choice?

-Network: Given the setting, a full video/audio/text network would require botching the technology level a bit. It'd be more realistic to have a text or audio only network, or no network at all, but I'm very open to suggestion on this point. The game world will have one city, one port town, two rural villages and a ghost town so it'll be decent sized.

That's all I can think of right now. Also there are a lot of info pages to write for this, and I want to make every option as interesting as I can, so don't worry if I don't show up again right away.

Don't trust your players to move things forward. If they do, great, proactive players are awesome and you should make sure there's something to reward them with, but make damn sure you have a contingency plan in place for moving things to resolution if the people who were gung-ho when everything was in the planning stages just sit around scratching their asses once the event actually goes live.
