Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Um, actually there are. Tiger and Bunny is an anime all about superheroes.

If anon is suggesting that the dressing room be clear that it's for western superheroes, that's not entitlement.

And protip: not everyone who plays superheroes hates interacting with anime characters. I will interact with people from any medium, even Homestuck, as long as the players write their characters in an interesting way.

japanese "superheros" are not in the same concept, genre, or style of american superheroes.

Not anymore. Older stuff is pretty similar.

all this is reminding me of how animu players love claiming sjw points because their muses are ~so japanesu~

their muses are literally japanese though

like using it to claim SJW points is dumb but 85% of anime characters are either japanese or from a fantasy world heavily influenced by japanese culture

trying to use japanese to claim sjw points is dumb in and of itself

but tiger & bunny is specifically based on the western concept of superheroes

the cast is three americans, a russian, a japanese guy, and a chinese kid

the city it takes place in is clearly western-style

im not saying it's EXACTLY like a comic-book but it's got more in common with the western concept of superheroes than japanese shonen protagonists or tokusatsu

+1

Here's one that is exactly like a comic book.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heroman

That's a superhero anime cocreated by Stan Lee. It's basically about an anime version of Juston Seyfert.

It's fine if they want western only but it's perfectly fuckin reasonable to ask for clarification when there are superhero animes cocreated by Stan the Man himself.

There's also Heroman, which was actually had some input from Marvel when it was created and is set in California.
