Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

why slytherin? ive heard arguments for him in every house but that, i think. ravenclaw because you've gotta be clever to unwind those rhymes, gryffindor because he does have that heroic potential if only he wanted to own it, hufflepuff because he devotes so much time to looking out for his friends throughout the story and depends a lot on them and their approval. but i can't really wrap my head around slytherin. he doesn't seem ambitious or especially shrewd

i haven't read hs in like a year but i always got the impression he was ambitious in his heart but prefers to work behind the scenes even if he feels like he wants recognition for his deeds, he's always looking out for his friends like you said, and he's obviously very crafty

the only non-slytherin thing is his lack of confidence

hm i guess we have pretty different reads on him. i get barely any of that from dave, personally, but he's not one of the characters who i've devoted tons of thought to or anything

i always saw him as someone who is a bit of a showboat and makes an effort to be a cool chill guy to his internet friends, but who doesn't really have a lot of drive usually. a lot of the stuff he does happened because other people got the ball rolling in some way, whether it's the ironic persona, sbahj, or going god tier. the other kids pursued their own agendas (or in john's case, vriska's) but it seemed like dave spent a lot of his time supporting them instead.

he doesn't even seem that crafty to me, aside from being able to turn a phrase.

see, i agree with your take. he's big on showboating and loves attention, but ultimately seems too lazy to really count as ambitious. the dude doesn't have a cunning bone in his body.

nah, dave is kind of ambitious (think of sbahj and how, in the alpha universe, he became a movie director. he has some ambition!) but he downplays it in an effort to come across as cool, aloof, and laid back
