	In Haven, we are all safe The buzzing of an alarm clock wakes you from an exceptionally heavy slumber, the light shining across your face suggests early morning, but that's where any similarity to a normal morning ends. The bed is one of six in this unfamiliar room, and the others seem to be occupied by people just as confused as you. The view outside the window is of a desolate city - abandoned, falling into disrepair, eerily silent. A huge peeling billboard shows a smiling man and woman holding gas masks, and the slogan across the bottom says: IN HAVEN, WE ARE ALL SAFE... TOGETHER Premise Haven is a plot-driven horror game. It is panfandom; open to canon characters, canon AUs (please see the FAQs for clarification), OCs and characters with previous game memories. The characters wake up in an abandoned town called Haven, with no memory of how they got there. The town itself seems to be uninhabited... most of the time. Sometimes noises can be heard in the dark, or figures can be seen running down alleyways in the distance. And there's the feeling of being watched. FACTION-BASED GAME QUESTION

Is there a good way to implement factions in a game? I'm especially thinking of factions like a group of warring kingdoms, where players from different factions can meet in a neutral area but are otherwise enemies by default. I've been thinking about this all day and haven't come up with anything usable, so now I'm wondering if this game idea is even worth pursuing.

Reservations for the upcoming November application cycle will be opening on October 25th (and closing on the 31st); applications will be open from November 1st until November 7th. You do not need to place a reserve to apply to the game.

I am currently the only player present from FF8 and I would love to have castmates to jam with! She lives in a house without a family, so it would be swell to have some people she knows to live with. In my heart of hearts, all I long for is for her to have Selphie and Squall (or any combination where Squall is miserable and uncomfortable) as her "children." Just imagine them sharing a bunkbed...

Anyway, I have only been at hollyheights for a little while, but if you are interested, drop me a line either here or via PM and I can do my best to answer any questions that you may have or whatever. (If you're up for memes or museboxing, I am also more than happy to work something out!)

Okay so I have this idea bouncing around in my head and I can't decide if it would be worthwhile/fun or if it'd just be sort of mean.

There's a character I've considered playing for a while at a certain game, but someone there plays a castmate, and I hate their version of the character. I don't think it's IC and in the past when I've tried to crit them they've brushed off my interpretation, so I know there'd be no way to compromise on how the character is played. To top it off, the character I'd like to play has a crush on the character for part of canon, so I couldn't really have them ignore him, either.

But here's the thing--the way the game is set up, I could have her behave differently toward him. I could easily have her not have as huge of a crush on him as she does in canon. I could have her have a crush on someone else. And I could have her respond appropriately if I felt like the character is behaving in a way that she wouldn't like ICly without being bound to "but she has a crush on him in canon."

The thing is, I don't know if this is a particularly nice thing to do, and while I have my issues with the mun they've never been vindictive or mean to me, personally, so maybe this would be a bad idea? Maybe it would be too mean?

drop it like a rock, that's passive-aggression of a nasty kind

if for whatever reason you can't drop them, proceed with caution and keep in mind that they are deliberately trying to upset and manipulate you. don't give in and yell at them, they want you to do that so they can make you into the villain. if they refuse to tell you what their beef is, well, you can't do anything about it and they have no one but themselves to blame.

How OOC do you think a player should play a character where it's reasonable for me to say no to RP with them vs they are playing IC and I'm being too fussy over little details I imagined about the character that they don't include

ask yourself if what they're playing is still recognizable as the character. are they still fundamentally the same person? if they acted that way in canon, would you accept it as that character even though it doesn't fit your view, or assume the writers went crazy?

that said rp is a game and it's supposed to be fun, so if you really don't want to play with someone then "no" is a legitimate answer no matter how ic they are.

...WTH, I think I just realized that I've been clinging to this one piece of CR with a dynamic I know feels really off because it reminds me of the same kind of really damaging friendship I used to be on one end of.

It doesn't make me happy, and I'm playing it anyway because it's "interesting" to actually think about and write, and at the same time writing it actually makes me feel a little uncomfortable because it hits so close to home. For good measure, I don't think the other player even realizes that it's NOT a healthy friendship we're writing. (For the both of our characters at least, I guess.)

i'm in this game with a bunch of lovely, brilliant rpers. in all my years, i've been dreaming of a game like this... but i have a problem, anons. the one person i play with the most in this game, our characters are dating. they handle their characters beautifully. i couldn't ask for a better partner... until it comes to the not so innocent stuff. they're still a novice when it comes to smutting and it shows. i'm okay with it and don't mind letting them work on it with me, but i also have a problem playing it with them at the same time. it gets awkward to write because all of our charcters chemistry shrivels up and dies any time they start getting anywhere near hot and heavy. it makes writing smut with them into a chore.

i want to help and give advice, but i don't know how to broach it properly without telling them to read fic for pointers. it's kind of obvious that i'm doing no good at it... my characters have already said 'touch me more' and 'don't be afraid to interact'.

i also really want to bring up fading to black for scenes like this, but then i'd feel bad because you don't get better at smutting like that and they want to learn. so, i'm kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place and could really use some advice on the matter. help!

The way I make icons is when I see a good expression, I hit print screen, go to paint, resize, center, and crop.
