I can't get written/text voices down. My current character isn't very well educated and shouldn't have great spelling and punctuation, but I never think of that. And I used to be in a game with a penpal system, but writing out letters from my characters gave me fits because I couldn't figure out how their voices would read on paper.

General or specific things that always give you trouble?

i can get kind of creeped out over historical figures as characters. in the sense like... a story about a generic serial killer wouldn't creep me out, but a story about a fictionalized jack the ripper, specifically, would freak me out a little.

i don't even totally get it myself. going off that example, serial killers are a real thing that still definitely exist. but for some reason picking one in particular to make into a character, even one that's been dead for a longass time, makes all the difference to me and i'm not sure why.

Been playing a character for a number of years, but the voice just isn't as strong these days. Thinking about dropping due to stagnation, but it sucks. I like the CR I have, but it's so hard to get properly motivated for them.

How do you freshen things up with a long lasting character, anons?

AU them, app to a memloss game and take their development somewhere else, pick a drastically different canon point.

If you mean within the same game, uh... are there any plots you haven't gotten to run with them? Is there a way to do a "wildly snapping and probably estranging a good lot of their CR but then have to pick up the pieces" plot? Cause that can really change a dynamic.

But if it's really been years and the game isn't generating enough new stuff for you to keep them active, then...

are you asking how to use torrents or are you asking the way people torrent? I don't use proxies or vpns. probably nothing will happen unless you're stealing music or movies from major labels, and even then they're more inclined to give you a warning first.

what if there was a voicetesting community where you could post your character doing something and then everybody would reply anonymously? like an ic anon meme but you were the only logged in character

that way you could end up roleplaying against a lot of random characters without having to worry about things like medium bias or tagging people who don't want to tag you. and you might get a lot of interesting things to thread against because a lot of characters would probably say weird shit anonymously

plus you could reply to other character's posts anonymously to test out a voice without having to worry about making icons or an account or anything. they wouldn't even have to know who you are
