Everything is under control

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.

I don't think they are taking into account even players, much less characters who have gone on such a thing before. So far no repeats on the missions, but it is rather unfair to see people who got in on the infiltration way back when got picked, yet people signed up who missed out on that were passed up.

I do think if a player has never had their character chosen for any plot with random selection (so like the infiltration for instance, but there's some others from the past as well) they should get first dibs and then let people have a second shot. There are players who have been in the game for years and signed up every time and have yet to be picked for anything other than drafts (which doesn't count since everyone who signed up would eventually get in, and now they allow pretty much everyone who wants in to get in), plus new players deserve a chance to get in as well. Pick people who haven't gone on such a thing first.

Though I do agree that a mission with a high chance of something bad going wrong could be fun. And it doesn't even require killing characters, serious injuries that put them in the clinic for a at least a week or two also could work.

That's kind of a hard thing to keep track of, don't you think? I doubt the mods keep a list of things like that. And the infiltration was a year and a half ago; I only remember maybe 3 or 4 of the characters who went off the top of my head. I think keeping it random is the safest way to keep it fair, so everyone always has an equal chance every time.

The lists are in the mod journal. And I know I can remember plenty more than 3 or 4 characters.

And no, random isn't always fair because there will be people who get more chances than others and players who sign up for everything their characters qualify for and never get picked.

And yet I can guarantee you there are people who would complain because they were picked for an event almost two years ago and are being randomly locked out a current events. When would you propose they allow people who did previous things to do new ones again? There are nearly 400 character sin Luceti. And new people are always coming in. By that logic, you'd probably only ever get to volunteer and go out on a special event once in the whole game's run.

There have only been two of these big missions so and there are likely to be plenty more. Luceti is a big game, so I can understand it being hard to give everyone a fair shot. You just gotta be patient.

Maybe if someone just went on the last group mission, they should have to wait for one or two more missions to pass before they apply for one again? Or something like that?

As someone who've been in Luceti for many years, I only got picked for ONE draft (aside from the catch-all one) and I've never been picked for a mission either. It's very disappointing and it kills my drive to play here at times.

And I forgot to mention the one draft I got into was because I tagged another characters comment on the first page. I'm happy that they decided to change that system.

With the old system it seemed you pretty much had to sign up again right after they deleted the comments for those who went to get in every time. That's how the players who got in every time did it. Of course if everyone did that, sure wouldn't have worked for the few who did. I am glad they changed it up because there really isn't a need for a limit other than maybe characters per mun to make sure some people remain.

But yeah, it does get discouraging when you've been in the game for a long time, signed up for loads of stuff and never get picked and seeing others get in numerous times while you get passed up.

I've only been in Luceti for two years and was able to go on drafts on three separate occasions. They went through the Draft List linearly, not randomly; how the hell weren't you picked?

Unless you didn't know you have to sign up/didn't know they deleted the comment after going once? I know some people who honestly didn't know the only way you'd be picked was to post to the draft sign up list, and though the lists were made by randomly going through all taken characters.

I signed up like everyone else :/ You tell me how I wasn't picked.
