As someone who really wants to join? The feeling I'm getting is "This is our club and we don't want you here!"

It's fine wanting a small game, but really. :\

I'm really sorry you feel that way, because as one of the people arguing against expansion, I absolutely love new players. I just want you to -- yeah, maybe after more of a wait than it would take to get into other games -- be able to enjoy the same game experience that I'm enjoying right now.

it doesn't exactly say "i love new players!" when you're arguing against making it possible in any form for them to get in.

in addition, "maybe more of a wait", anon? it takes --in the games i've been in so far and that i can think of-- at most, a month to get in, if they do app cycles. aather will leave people waiting for 3? 4? maybe more? because having to wait for people to drop, with so many people in line waiting with you is going to put that off for a very long time.

and players shouldn't have to prove that they can wait months on end --maybe even up to half a year (depending on the rate of drops, which if you have 43 people waiting? don't seem to be happening often)-- to play in a game because people are against adding a few more places. seriously, how long do you think that 43rd person is going to be waiting?

it's fine wanting to keep a game small, but arguing against doing anything other than forcing people to wait months and months and months to get in is more sandbox/club-house-y than anything, no matter how much you say you want new players.

at this point, the game is better off just refusing any more apps at all.

I'm the person who suggested closing apps till the pool is less deep so that new people wouldn't have to apply and then wait such a long time before any turnaround, so. Yeah, I suppose I agree with this.

Considering that old players have an even longer wait for new characters than new players do, though, since new players are generally prioritized first -- I still don't see how it's any more exclusive than what current players are willing to deal with to add new ic blood to the game, and new players are absolutely welcomed once in.

No, I'm honestly regretful that our arguments are coming across that way when I'm not really sure what to do to fix it. It was badly worded since that's the traditional insincere apology, but that was my shitty choice of wording. I'm not sorry that I have opinions about how the game I'm in works best; I am sorry people outside the game don't think I'd want to play with them.

I'm not sure how someone could app fresh into Aather and think we don't like playing with new people. I have extensive CR with people I've never met before the game, some of which have apped fairly recently, and I love that CR. I just don't know how to say "I love new blood but I sincerely feel that the game runs better with a hard character cap" any other way.
