I want to see Kanaya<3<Someone somehow. Not sure who. I mostly want to see someone pull off Kanaya being in that sort of relationship, since technically all trolls are expected to have both <3 and <3<.

but they started out with caliginous potential...

I just, sob, there's basically no cast on Earth with early enough canon points to be able to develop it in that direction. By the seventh conversation or so it's too late.

I'd consider trying Kanaya<3<Rose if I can work why Rose would hate Kanaya, but I'd also wouldn't mind wracking my brain to think of a cross-canon girl to have her <3< with.

Wellllllll. BLACKROM IS COMPLICATED! Kind of like redrom is complicated! There are more reasons to get into a romantic relationship than overwhelming love. Perhaps, for instance, a romantic relationship where actively mocking and misleading your partner are encouraged has appeal. I don't know, you're the Rose player, my character cries green tears. And there's always the route of deliberate antagonization -- which Kanaya very nearly at some points did. The problem is that in canon their relationship is always continuously getting better -- they slowly start to understand each other more. But things do start off pretty vitriolic, and if that dynamic were carefully cultivated, they could continually get worse.
