Rundown:
rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.
Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. (Anonymous) 2012-03-02 12:09 am (UTC)(link)How much headcanon do you have regarding the other three kids and how they fit in with Rozia's character arc as opposed to canon?

There's a lot of subtle differences in the kids' relationships with each other because of the nature of troll society, but I think that it's most apparent with Rozia because of her position.
She prides herself on being highly independent and needing no one in her life but herself, but to her horror finds that she's actually heavily invested in whether or not these three other trolls are safe and happy. It's not something that she's comfortable with or particularly equipped to deal with, and it makes her interactions with them slightly different from her human counterpart's. However, they all basically serve the same purpose in her character development to a point.
Troll!Dave is probably the one with the most differences. Before Sgrub Rozia was the only person to discover his mutant blood, and her influence and machinations were frequently the only thing keeping him from being culled. However, because of this Rozia is able to blackmail him into doing things for her on land (where she refuses to set foot).
This creates a lot of friction between the two of them, as Rozia believes that she's perfectly justified in calling in favors considering how much danger she's putting herself in to keep him safe while Dave resents the fact that he basically has no choice but to comply with her demands. They end up playing a very dangerous game where Dave constantly puts himself in perilous situations just to see how far he can get Rozia to stick her neck out for him, while Rozia is more upset about him doing that than she'll ever admit and retaliates by making him schlepp out to Fuckass Nowhere to collect shit for the horrorterrors.
Beneath all their vitriol and facetious back and forth they do genuinely care for each other, although both are absolute shit at expressing it. As the game progresses the horrorterrors encroach more and more on Rozia's mind, and it's Dave who notices the subtle differences when they exert a little too much control over her. He tries to confront her at one point over it, but because of their troubled past and her own stubbornness all it does is result in a serious blowout between the two of them.
There's still that friction between the two that they had in the original universe, but it's sort of intensified by the fact that they're kind of flipflopping black and red for each other without ever wanting to own up to it. They care deeply for each other but aren't particularly good at reigning each other in - their natural competitiveness actually spurs them to strive harder to outdo each other.
Troll!Jade makes Rozia slightly uneasy. Jade's prophetic dreaming from Prospit runs directly contrary to the goals of the horrorterrors she's grown up with all her life, but she finds it a little soothing to have someone else who can sort of relate to massive predestination and the like. What frustrates her is that despite their similarities Jade refuses to divulge any of the things she sees while asleep, still speaking in the cryptic half-answers that original universe Jade does. Granted she does the exact same thing, but this is so obviously different there's no hypocrisy here whatsoever nah.
Jade is the one who makes Rozia aware of Sgrub's existence and her hinting that it might be needed to save their lives is enough to prompt her to force Dave into following what the terrors tell her in order to acquire the pieces of it, although it's Jade who ultimately assembles the game with help from Scratch.
Rozia thinks that Jade is very naive and sheltered (which considering her hive's remote location isn't entirely baseless) and out of her three friends is the one least qualified to be making big decisions on her own. She often writes her off and ignores her much like Rose does later on in the original universe, although during their time in the Veil they do bond a little over their losses.
On the flip side, Jade thinks that Rozia is way too serious and overthinks everything whether it needs to be or not. She wants her to loosen up a little, because secretly she's afraid that if she stays wound so tightly it's going to end up hurting her. For all their misgivings about each other they're cordial and willing to do anything for the other.
Troll!John sort of engenders the same feelings in Rozia that Jade does, ie that he's a total derp and probably shouldn't be allowed to run things on his own. However whereas Jade is for the most part comfortable speaking with her, John is seriously intimidated by her. This is equal parts his casual blood discrimination (he's prone to saying thoughtless things like 'that was really good for a rustblood!' without meaning them, although he gets better as time goes by) psyching him out about speaking with the empress to be and Rozia's own naturally frightening disposition.
The only reason that he doesn't quit talking with her is because frequently he'll see glimmers of a regular six sweep old troll in her as she teases him or engages in a silly back and forth. It's enough to convince him that underneath her icy exterior there's a genuinely nice girl there, and that's enough for him to brave those really scary moments when he realizes fucking up could result in a culling.
John is something of a grounding force for Rozia, although his faint fear of her combined with his slightly less than perfect ability to recognize things that could blossom into problems rule him out of the pale quadrant. She's a little more natural when in conversation with him than any of the others, and his blind faith in her is reassuring even when she uses it to excuse some really shitty stuff.
She seriously underestimates both his observational abilities and whether or not he'd actually do something to stop events he doesn't like. Although Dave is the one who confronts her about cutting off ties with the horrorterrors, it's John who'll ultimately take her down when she goes grimdark.
However, he's still pretty gullible and she uses that to her advantage sometimes by subtly manipulating him into helping her out. Rozia was probably the one who put him in his Quest Cocoon, although I don't think she'd have been responsible for him dying. Like I said, she takes her friends' safety very seriously.
Aaaaand that's really all I can think of right now. Hopefully it wasn't a total pile of nonsense, haha.

(Anonymous) 2012-03-10 03:04 am (UTC)(link)and totally not a pile of nonsense, it was a pile of interesting
I really like your interpretation of troll!Dave and Rozia's relationship, especially considering a more conventional (i.e. not Fef) tyrian-blooded troll's relationship with a mutant hasn't been fully developed in canon
aside from Condesce and Signless but well. you know.
keep on rocking :3

Lmfao yes we've never seen anything in between shishkebob or tangle buddies unfortunately. I kind of just winged it while taking into account the fact that she does in fact care for him, in her own tightass way.
I'll do my best to continue doing so! Maybe next time you pop by I'll have settled on names for the other kids.
