I don't see why it needs to be Jude who helps her develop her humanity. It could just as well be the residents of Luceti, in which case this is an amazing opportunity.

And having played the game, I can understand why a later time period might get troublesome.

As the OP, I disagree with you entirely.

Well, everyone's entitled to their own opinion.

I think, if it were me, I would take Milla from just before the 'leg incident'. Near end-game would work too, I guess, but... I don't know, I don't think such a late canon point would benefit her, aside from having a bit more knowledge about things. Knowledge that isn't relevant because she doesn't have canonmates anyway. She could always be canon updated later.

And anyway, considering we've had characters from early in canon before, I don't see why it should be a problem for this one. For example, just look at that Presea we had a while ago, who didn't have a Keycrest yet. It led to some great interactions.

She wasn't a great Presea.

I would definitely take her from AFTER Ni Akeria, especially considering the scene she has at her shrine. Taking her from so early in the game alienates people from apping characters whom she won't recognize yet, you can hardly call yourself a castmate. It makes it awkward for potential other people. A later time point (maybe after arriving in Cahalla) would work so much more in the players favor in my honest opinion.

The whole app seems to be completely avoiding any spoilers, which is strange when apping a character like Milla. As another anon said, apps from the very start of JRPGs always have a "I don't know the canon that well" vibe.

Canon-blind here, but isn't that kind of unfair? It makes it awkward for people who MAY or MAY NOT app later? Like someone else said, there's a lot of potential for the character development that happens in canon to happen in Luceti, isn't there?

Just read through the app myself. It seems like either the mun was purposely avoiding any spoilers (which doesn't make sense because there was another app from this canon last cycle which was filled with spoilers) or they actually don't know what happens in the game. The whole app reads as though they lifted the information from the Aselia wiki http://aselia.wikia.com/wiki/Milla_Maxwell which doesn't go far past the point they've pulled them from either.

In short, it's quite a poor app anyway.

Hi there anons. I've decided to reply directly to some of these comments.

"It seems like either the mun was purposely avoiding any spoilers (which doesn't make sense because there was another app from this canon last cycle which was filled with spoilers)"

This is exactly what I was trying to do. There was an Alvin app a few cycles back (not the last Alvin) whose app contained massive unmarked spoilers and greatly upset a good friend of mine, a massive Tales fan who wanted to remain spoiler-free for Xillia. Out of consideration to those casually browsing the page, I tried to keep the app as spoiler-free as possible, focusing more on personality than history.

Will it be enough information to have me accepted? Maybe not, and I'm willing to provide a complete summary of Xillia if the mods ask for it. I do own the game and have fully completed it on the Milla side, watching the few Jude-exclusive scenes on YouTube.

As for her canon point, I chose an early canon point for a few reasons. The first is force of habit: I generally prefer to take characters from earlier points, when they are more flawed or inexperienced. The second is that I wanted to take her from a point before she became too heavily involved in the events of the story, to be able to enter Luceti with (relatively) less to worry about about. The third is a certain rule in Luceti (crippling injuries are not healed) that would make it very awkward for me to app her past a certain event. Sure, I could take her from the end-game, but as I've said, I would prefer to play her from an early point where she is discovering things for the first time.

If anyone has any constructive criticism on my app, please do contact me on the anon HMD post on Milla's journal. I'm confident that I know her character like the back of my hand, so if you feel the need to "test" my knowledge of her, then please do.

As for me, I'm going to write that summary of the plot of Xillia and tack it onto my application as an addendum to the History section.

I have a lot of respect for you to come here logged in and reply, kudos to you. I honestly think a lot of what's been said regarding you here isn't true and the above anons seem to be vicious for no good reason. They also seem to have a lot of their facts and logic wrong, don't let them get to you.

Regarding spoilers, apps generally collapse when the page fills, so if you mark clearly in the first or second comment that there are major spoilers then most people will just use the powers of common sense to scroll right past. Marking spoilers gives you the freedom to include them, since you want to try and cram as much detail as you can into the app so the mods and the players who are familiar with the canon become aware that you do know what you're talking about (which prevents incidents like this happening in the first place). Histories can be off-linked so you can put spoilers in there without worrying.

Personally, I do think you should have pulled her just a little later on once she was fully aware of what had happened to her connect with the spirits. It would also have given you a little more familiarity with any canonmates (if you took before said incident you mentioned_ and not put you in the position where you're replacing what she will learn in the game with Luceti's knowledge, which can and very often does lead earlier canon apps into OOC territory (I've seen it happen many times over the years, not just in Luceti). When you pull from earlier points in canon you end up missing out on a lot of your own canon material (meaning you have much less to talk about regarding your own world, which is a very popular topic in games like these) and it does and will make it more difficult for you in the long run, speaking from experience of being someone who did once app from an early point. I felt incredibly left out when castmates apped in, and it also put off people from apping certain canonmates I would love to have had. So please be aware of the disadvantages of earlier timepoints.

Thanks for your support, anon.

This whole discussion has gotten me thinking about her canon point, and moving it forward for many of the reasons you described. The thought of putting off potential cast-mates is weighing on my mind the most.

Right now, I'm thinking of "After the Nameless Mutant battle" as a new canon point. It's not that far ahead but it establishes relationships with two more party members, a fair few important NPCs, and is set during a nice lull in the action.

I always have the option for a canon update in the future, too.

Glad to hear you're still going to go ahead with the application! I look forward to playing with you in the future!
