I have never seen a game with such wildly inaccurate characterizations in my decade of RPing.

And I played on GreatestJournal and on forums.

This is getting really old.

Granted I haven't followed every single anon thread for BN, but I've only ever seen this stated in the vaguest terms, no specifics. I think they're just trying to make people feel insecure in general.

Not at all. I'm the OP. I've stalked the game a bit here and there since it has been created and the quality of writing and characterization in this game overall is subpar and on the level of excited 15 year olds writing badfics (and not nearly as entertaining). There are a few decent writers and people who know their characters, but I have to fault them for remaining in the game and not moving on to somewhere else.

This is a serious question: so?

Yeah, I understand that rpanons is here for people to 'vent' and say whatever's on their mind. You don't need to be interested in fixing a problem in order to comment on it. I get that.

So some people may not be the best at their characters, according to others. Some of those people are still going to get accepted into games because quality is subjective and maybe the mods agree with their interpretation. So? People are obviously having fun and sticking around for their own reasons. Most likely because they're enjoying themselves.

Bad characterization isn't an affront to anyone other than maybe the person directly involved in the thread, and it's real, real easy to avoid the things you don't like in RP. I wonder why you're still reading, if you don't even find it entertaining. Do you come back in the hopes that it's improved because you might app someday? Do you have any actual stake in the game, at all? If not: why do you care enough to comment?

I don't necessarily agree with the above anon that all the writing is bad but even if everything IS crap...we're having fun. Don't come play if you don't want to. We won't force you.

Exactly my thought. If something is off or bad (not necessarily saying it is, but if it is), it's up to the people directly involved to speak up about it. If they don't? Either they don't think it's bad or it doesn't matter to them.

If you're in the game, you're welcome to do HMDs. We haven't had an in-game one in a while but a lot of players have personal ones.

If you're not in the game, you're welcome to stop reading.

Hell, I don't care if you're in the game or not, I have a personal HMD and I'd love ANY crit. Feedback would be awesome, anon or not.

I agree entirely. Honestly, the general perception of this game, and the overall state of it is incredibly discouraging. This sort of general toxic attitude that people have is making it incredibly hard for me to want to stay in the game, even if the people grudgewanking aren't even in the game.

I don't want to leave, and I don't want to feel like wank is chasing me out. It's an incredibly upsetting situation. I just hope that things can improve, you know?

If a lot of people are complaining about the game, maybe there's something wrong with the game.

if you don't like it, no one is forcing you to be here. player and non-players. if you're a player, really it's time to do something about your issues, or if that can't be done for whatever reason (which yeah, may be unfairly out of your control), decided to stay and deal or leave.

really, this negativity is worn thin. if you dislike it, do something one way or the other. besides trying to pee in everyone else's cereal, that is. I don't think anyone thinks there's nothing wrong. we just got the memo the first several times and...hey, still wanna play and have fun here.

I really enjoyed how many characters got involved in the plot to rescue Diana, Roxanne, and Amy.

Alright, I'm just going to say this here, because I was going to bring it up anon on the mod contact page and guess what? Anon's not enabled there. It probably needs to be reset after the move from LJ.

I think Ophelia needs to open applications for co-mods. Now I don't know how much help the "helper mods" give, but whatever it is, I don't think it's enough. (Do they have access to the mod accounts? Do they help process apps? Or do they just look at pages and go "Yup, no broken code here.") The SOTG is consistently late, I keep hearing about a HMD or PPP plot and we've gotten neither yet, even though the activity check is over and characters have been swept.

There is talk of the metaplot taking off very soon and I feel it shouldn't before there are dedicated co-mods in place. Someone who can get mod posts out on time would be a good start. I'm not trying to pick on Ophelia for that. She has a life outside of modding. That is why it's a good idea to have multiple mods who can do something when others aren't available.

And there is the whole app system that needs an overhaul, but that is another argument entirely. Maybe someone who doesn't mind bringing this up to Ophelia logged in can ask on the mod contact page if/when she'll ask for co-mods because that is something I'd really like a definitive answer on before this metaplot gets rolling.

I'm not worried about talking to her, I will try to bring it up (probably in IM) soon.
