Technically, you could "will" that you could see them, too.

But in all seriousness, Wolverine and Cyclops from the 90's, buddy cop style.

616 Rich Rider teaching Ultimate Spidey Sam Alexander how to be a Nova Centurion.

I guess it's possible we might get that in canon, since Loeb imported Sam to 616 for the new Nova series, but Rich seems to have been forgotten in the Cancerverse when Pete and Thanos escaped. Guess we need a Nova movie greenlit for anyone to care about him. I'm not bitter.

No but seriously, it would be adorable.

I play from 616, but man, I have seriously been craving some cross-universe CR shenanigans. No knowledge of 616 required by the MCU/tv series/whatever players, because half the fun would be the bafflement on both sides at meeting someone they think is someone else, and the potential for relationships other than what 616 has.

omg I love when this happens. I love cross-verse shenanigans. Especially when you mix in two versions of the same character and someone who knows a completely different version of them. Probably why I love games that accept doubles.

Yesssss that was one of my favorite things about DRs - throwing characters at different versions of themselves.

Sadly the only game I'm in right now with a 616 character, our MCU cast just threads with each other :(

I am sorry to hear that. I'm not ashamed to admit I totally judge MCU casts that do that to comic players and vice versa. You're all Marvel and if you want to snob people from playing from a different verse or a different medium then why ever play from a canon where alternate universes are a staple? Marvel isn't like book canon being different from the damn movie. AUs have been around for almost as long as the company has existed.

I'm lucky enough to play in two games with casts that are great about cross-verse CR, I hope you find one too, anon.

looking into a game though, one cast might not be to blame because the other is the one that doesn't thread with them

this is actually my problem too, though. I know not every mcu cast is like that but every one I've played with was(I guess I just have rotten luck in that department) and, like you said...don't play from superhero shit if you can't handle au crap, guys.

i play from 616, but i've also played from mcu and other marvel movies in games and i've got to say that some of the best cr i've ever had was that sort of cross-universe stuff. it allows the players to really explore the characters in ways you just can't see the canon doing. i mean, yeah, some characters do</> meet au versions of themselves and the people they know, but most of them will never been confronted with stuff like that.

honestly, i'd love some mcu characters at my game right now, or cartoon characters, or more ultimates. it's such a fun and easy way to create a new spin on cr, and like you say, knowledge of 616 is not required, just play to the version you want to play and dive in.

All my 616 characters would be blase or at least not confused by alternate timelines, but that can be fun too, as long as you don't rain on the other player's parade. I really like cross-continuity CR, but I don't play anyone with major ties to any of the characters that have showed up so far in the MCU, and "I've been in a couple of crossovers with you" only works with a certain type of character, so mostly I get my kicks on the X-Men side of things.

I've got one that has been dragged through a ton of timelines, but I can still see a lot of potential in relationships with movie-versions or radically different canonpoint versions of other characters.

Though you're right, the trick is to make it fun for both sides instead of 'look at me show off how much comics history I know'.

I've had characters who despise each other in their home universes become friends in games. It's great (and sometimes totally out of left field.)

It's easy to slip into stuff like "your biggest threat is Loki?" with 616/MCU interactions, just because 616 is such a madhouse that Avengers the movie looks like Baby's First Alien Invasion by comparison. This should be less of a problem after 2 when everyone can get together and bitch about Thanos.

I play from the films but have fairly decent comics knowledge, though one of my favorite thing to do is really focus on that cross-medium stuff. I have threads with both characters from 616 and Ultimates and they're some of my favorite CR in a game, especially when one of them is a close relationship in 616 that hasn't been touched upon in the movies.

Some of the other anons talking about how MCU/etc stick to themselves though make me sad, because if I could do another game, I'd totally throw myself at you and flesh out those cross-verse CRs.

I had a thread between my 616 character who'd met Spiderman like, once (though it was a memorable meeting) run into an in-costume Ults Spidey and there was much confusion on both sides.
