Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

All my 616 characters would be blase or at least not confused by alternate timelines, but that can be fun too, as long as you don't rain on the other player's parade. I really like cross-continuity CR, but I don't play anyone with major ties to any of the characters that have showed up so far in the MCU, and "I've been in a couple of crossovers with you" only works with a certain type of character, so mostly I get my kicks on the X-Men side of things.

I've got one that has been dragged through a ton of timelines, but I can still see a lot of potential in relationships with movie-versions or radically different canonpoint versions of other characters.

Though you're right, the trick is to make it fun for both sides instead of 'look at me show off how much comics history I know'.

I've had characters who despise each other in their home universes become friends in games. It's great (and sometimes totally out of left field.)

It's easy to slip into stuff like "your biggest threat is Loki?" with 616/MCU interactions, just because 616 is such a madhouse that Avengers the movie looks like Baby's First Alien Invasion by comparison. This should be less of a problem after 2 when everyone can get together and bitch about Thanos.
