i've been thinking about delving into her familiarity with physics and mechanics, especially since she seems to be showing more and more of her intelligence now that she's got her space powers and all, actually! one of the games i'd like to app her into if i do end up feeling like it's a good course of action has a lot of focus on that sort of thing.

one thing tripping me up is deciding exactly how familiar she'd be with certain types of technology, given that it would make most sense that she's either picked things up from her grandpa, or is self-taught (idk if i'm missing anything re: that from the comic but), or if her techniques might seem unusual to her/if she'd look at someone tinkering with something and think it was weird.

actually, the level of (tentatively going to say cultural) understanding she has and how differently she would understand basic things in general has been playing on my mind recently

if this is after cascade but before the three years, yeah i could see her understanding of a lot of things to be pretty minimal, so she could encounter a lot of culture shock afterwards! if it's later on, some time during the journey between the fenestrated planes, then being around john and davesprite and everyone else might slightly ease that a bit, possibly.

i'm glad to hear you want to focus on her interest in science! i don't run into enough jades that give that part its due attention. between whether her knowledge came from her grandpa or was self-taught, i would think it was a combination of the two that leans toward the latter, so if she encountered someone else working on something she has a familiarity with, finding they use a totally different methodology from what she knows is probable. kind of like someone who learns a language by reading a dictionary and then meets someone who's fluent only to realize they've been pronouncing everything wrong. it's not necessarily a direction you should absolutely be forced to take, but i think it's an interesting option.

i was looking to keep from getting too far into her trip through the planes so as not to put too much into the davesprite/jade dynamic since it's still extremely vague, so it's really good to hear that i'm not going way off track with that. seeing as john already got her watching con air by the... second? year too, yeah, she's probably had plenty of time to pick up on a lot between the two of them.

i think it'd be an interesting position to go from, if she's just as knowledgeable about the field as those with legitimate training, but her approach to it is completely out there or even impractical in other's eyes. i sort of figured she'd be the type to do all sorts of odd things with her gadgets since she's got her refrigerator thingy and the irradiating steaks dealio and lives with jadebot, of all things.

it would also give a fresh perspective for cr, too, giving both sides the opportunity to go wtf at each other and pick up a few tips and tricks.

o/ makes me hope she gets a chance to embrace all of that once the nonsense with the game settles down, honestly. girl's got a gift.
