Do you have examples? Because I'm in the cast and haven't noticed this at all.

All over the place? I don't see how you could miss it, honestly. Especially Dave flirting/being sexually suggestive with Karkat and Karkat being flustered about it, which has happened various times. He's done that with Gamzee too, which is stuff Dave never does towards other guys in canon (though he does it with some of the girls). I think the reason this game has a hard time retaining Jade and Terezi players despite the fact that they're two of the most-played characters in the fandom is glaringly obvious.

And the new Tavros is a mess altogether. The buttsex obsession is just one of the problems with him.

Hey, in canon Dave does make sexual remarks to Tavros. Whether they're trolling or not is a much shakier question, but the fact remains they are there.

Stuff like sending him text hearts <3 and saying "I love you"? I don't think so.

Actually, there was a fucking huge post on one of the old anon memes that pinpointed every time a troll used the word love, whether it was saying "I love my scalemates!" or Mindfang calling Dualscar her "8lack lover".

So it does pop up a lot. It's just that their "love" is different and has a lot to do with pity.

as someone who tried to play in the cast as a female character with canon close CR with Karkat and Dave, i know first hand how true this is. those two players especially are obsessed with Karkat/Dave and it shows in everything they do in EV including only tagging each other or other objects of their yaoi obsession.

i loved the game but i had to drop. it was literally impossible to play my character in that cast.

but yeah, I've had the same problem in other games. They don't seem all that interested in female castmates to me.

As someone in the game I'm really disappointed by this. I'd love the characters I think you're referencing, Jade and Terezi, but we have gone through a lot. They don't seem to retain. I'm sorry you felt the need to drop even though I understand. I just hope this can be resolved somehow.

I've considered apping Jade various times since I play someone else here and love the game itself, but I can tell from their past behavior that those two would ruin the experience.

Vriska and Nepeta (before she had to leave) are the only female characters that have stuck with the cast for a long time, and I wouldn't be surprised if part of that is because John and Equius actually acknowledge them and their relationships in canon.

i'm not really sure where this is coming from because afaik our dave has interacted with our jades just fine?? terezi too, but the first one was had was pretty inactive and the second one dropped after less than a month, but our dave interacted with both. he even danced with jade at a party before the move. :/

it might be because of the way they talk about the characters OOCly? i have seen it brought up at least once that their interpretation of dave doesn't trust terezi at all and if I were to try to play her off of them that would be a huge warning sign to me that cr might not be wanted. at the very least it would be hella discouraging coming in and hearing that from a close canonmate particularly since that doesn't seem to be a standard interpretation. i'd say outright ooc but it's been some time since i read dave and terezi's pesterlogs, but i remember him pretty much doing what she wanted him to do without too much questioning.

Well we only had a John for a really short time time and then didn't get another one until this app round, but Equius and Nepeta were tight, yeah.

We had a John for 3 consecutive months, which is about half the time the game's been open. So a good amount of time, actually.

All right, so I saw this last night and I gave myself some hours to think on a response. First off, I would like to say I’m extremely sorry to any Terezis or Jades (or anyone) we’ve had past or future who felt I wasn’t available for CR. I’ve been somewhat closed off as of late due to personal matters, but in the past I’ve always tried my hardest to be available to everyone, both castmates and otherwise. I absolutely loved the CR I had with our one Jade who stuck around for a while, and I hope after seeing this, potential appers will change their minds and be open to joining a pretty fantastic game

That said, I think some things I’ve done with Dave are being taken out of context-- in particular his ‘flirty’ interactions with Tavros (which were entirely a joke on Dave’s part and lasted all of one thread). When Tavros arrived, Dave was pretending they had a flushed thing to mess with him, remembering how flustered Tavros got in their pre-SBURB past. Dave actually realized the joke wasn’t going very ironically or funnily, and ended it once Tavros started to take him too seriously. They have not had particularly good interactions ever since.

Same with Gamzee, where his major CR has gone from taking Gamzee as a joke to taking him seriously. I may like the ship, privately, but I recognize it would not make any sense for EV at this juncture. The most ‘positive’ thing that’s happened between them is Dave’s mere open acknowledgement of Gamzee as being serious about him, and no longer (obscenely) ridiculing him for it. And that took the last six months.

Karkat and Dave’s CR is a bit more complicated, and does involve a flash-in-the-pan boycrush that led to rejection (via Dave). After that, they didn’t talk for at least two months. I did receive crit on how I handled that, and I’ve done my best to take it into account. They worked together, there was a less-than-a-week-long thing, and now they’re trying to get along on a very fragile friendship level.

I guess the short version is while I have a considerable amount of Dave ships in private that I play in private or over memes, I’ve never meant to make anyone perceive me as playing for them in games. They are not meant to be the focus of Dave’s CR, and if it seems like he’s talking more to his cast than anyone lately, that’s a product of my lessened available time, and yes-- a flaw I’ll work on really hard from now on. I’m sorry for that. There are so many amazing players in this game, I’d frankly be an idiot not to try and tag more of them.

All that said, I will definitely take in mind the crit here-- I’m clearly doing some things wrong if Jades and Terezis don’t think I want them around. I may also be playing up the aspect of Dave’s dialogue that comes off as sexual (and sometimes gross) too much, and that’s another thing to work on.

tl;dr: I don't entirely agree with everything that's been brought up here, but I sincerely thank you for bringing it to my attention. I accept that not everyone is going to like what I do with Dave, but there is always room for improvement and I take any comments as another chair to up my feng shui.
