I just realized that my character is perfectly set up to be in an amazing love triangle. There's a girl he likes, a different girl that likes him, and his split personality that likes the girl that likes him.

But I doubt I'll get to play it out because one of the other muns will probably hate the idea, or it'll lead to drama because my guy isn't dedicating himself to one ship and one ship only :(

for game apps - how long is too long? mainly in the personality section?

For me, if you start repeating yourself to fill space, it's too long. If you start psychoanalyzing to explain where certain traits came from and how they manifest, you're probably getting too wordy. I want to know what this character is like and how it affects their interactions, I don't want a play-by-play on how they came to be that way.

I like personality sections to be more of a general overview. I aim for about 500 words, give or take 100. I can say most of what I need to say in that space.

anons i'm going through a rough patch in life and as a result i can't really bring myself to be interested in or excited about things.

recommend to me your favorite video game or novel. something that will grab me from the start and will not let go. so none of that "it starts slow" crap. i'm not going to waste hours to get to the good parts. i don't have it in me.

IIRC Bastion is pretty compelling right from the start. I tend to peter out before I finish a game, often near the beginning, but I sped through that game and beat it in a few days because of how invested I was in it.

Nope.

Not enough games that I would enjoy that would make the console worth buying in my mind.

I bought a 3DS because I got hyped over it. I've used it three times and I got it at launch.
After that I decided to go by the logic that there has to be at least 6 games, exclusive to the console, that I would buy before getting actually getting the console.

Of course that's entirely my personal opinion on it all.

Inspired by another anon up there, do you find it necessary to know your characters' backstories and how they came to be the way they are?

For a few of my characters, like side characters who don't get much if anything in the way of a history laid out in canon, I know that I should be fleshing out their upbringings and stuff like that but I just don't really... care. I could write a lot of tl;dr about their personalities and the inferences I make about them from their canons but I just don't really give a shit about what their childhoods were like.

Bad writing? Bad writing.

When canon doesn't go into it, I usually give myself a small base to go with and whenever someone asks a question that I haven't accounted for I make something up with what seems to work at the time.

But personally, as long as you're being IC I don't think it matters if you have a huge backstory for your characters or not. And sometimes you can go too crazy on the backstory (I've done that before) so I can be good to hold back a little.

Maybe not what you're looking for since it does require a download (though it's a pretty small file) but Knytt Stories is my favorite way to pass the time. You can find custom-made levels online too when you beat all the premade ones. It's a mix of puzzle and adventure, but with more exploring than fighting.

Okay, so

my internet connection is fine, yeah? but skype keeps telling me it's not, and whenever I'm in a call, it disconnects me.

everything else is working PERFECTLY



I don't have a firewall on, so that's not blocking it,
I don't have any anti-virus program that could be blocking it,
my connection is still loading everything else except skype calls
