not rp-related, but let's face it, most of the stuff here isn't. does anyone have any recommendations for a website where you can list things for sale that isn't craigslist? i have a gaming laptop that i desperately need to sell, but i've had bad luck with ebay and nothing but scammers contacting me on cl.

look for niche websites related to what you're selling and see if their community areas have a sales section? for the groups who stayed active after the lj fiasco, i know i've seen sale communities for pretty obscure things and if you can find one, that might end up being your best bet.

There are no decent female entertainers, so amateurs saying stupid things over video games have no chance.

I'm in one of those situations were the obvious solution is just "just drop you other games," but I can't bring myself to for various reasons.

Okay, so. Let's say I'm in Games A, B, and C. Each game has its own set of people I play with and no overlap. Game A I've been in for years, done everything I could possibly do, and have mostly stuck to playing with a core group of CRmates and while I can make AC decently every month, I still find myself struggling with character arcs and actually DOING things in game. Game B is one of those games where it's super difficult to get much done because I'm not SUPER ACTIVE, but I have a group of players I really like playing with there and play with them, if at all possible. Plus I have great casts there, but, again, I don't feel like I'm DOING anything. Just existing.

And then there's Game C. Game C is PERFECT. It's the right speed, I love everyone in the game, I'm super involved, and ultimately I forego tags to my other games because I'm prioritizing tags to this game, which isn't fair to the players I play with in my other games.

So yeah, the solution is just drop, even if it would upset a lot of my long-standing CR in Game A and upset my castmates in Game B, because obviously I'm not having fun, but the fallout would suck so hard, because I wouldn't be able to play with these people anymore, except in memes, but a lot of them don't do memes. :(

I'm not so much looking for a solution or buttpats as I am wondering if anyone else has ever had this happen to them and if they got a lot of resentment over it. The last time I left a game I wasn't having fun in for another game, my closest RP partners at the time who were in that game and not in the game I left for just DUMPED me completely.

Most of my closest friends that I met through RP I haven't played with in a game in years. I mean, I try to join games they're in when I can, but sometimes I have to drop if the game isn't a good fit.

I've lost close friends, too, but it was never because of a drop--either we drifted apart, or we had some huge dramatic argument that sometimes contained stuff about RP but usually had extenuating circumstances that really caused things to go sour.

If you drop from the games you're feeling burned out on, you'll probably lose some friends, particularly those that you only talk with about RP. And yes, you'll probably put some of your CR in a bind. But that's just part of RP. You can't be expected to play in a game forever, and most reasonable people will have probably already seen this coming and would rather you play where you're feeling excited and having fun rather than just hanging around to play with your CR. (In particular in Game B it sounds like you're just getting involved with a clique because that's all you're sticking around for.)

I say drop. If you use plurk, keep everyone you like around and you'll still be able to talk to them. Eventually those friends will probably move on and head off to different games too, and then you'll maybe be able to jump into their new game and play with them again. And if not, well, it's disappointing but that's the way things are sometimes. The people that are worth keeping around aren't going to freak out at you about it, particularly if you give them all fair warning and try to finish up any loose threads your CR would like to take care of.
