So they announced a console game for 2013

Thinking we might get some new blood (players and/or new characters in the game itself) or what?

Personally I hope there aren't new characters.

Just. Bring back some of the old ones and do something with them.

I'm not sure if I trust new Sonic console games to not be trainwrecks nowadays, but Generations was legitimately good (even if the final boss was a bit testy for me) and did so without having to introduce any new characters.

Same. I'm mostly just frustrated because I think the team is too nervous to deviate from using JUST Sonic anymore after the bomb that was '06. Going for an Adventure style layout isn't a bad thing but from the interviews I can remember, they're skirting the idea now probably out of straight-up fear.

Can't say I blame 'em, but we could use something fresh. I'd personally would love to see Silver return and do something with that skill set of his.

Properly, of course, instead of the "IT'S NO USE!!!" fiasco that was 2006.

It really wasn't any use to try and enjoy the game...

But yeah, I, too, thought the psychokinesis was kind of fun. Now if only he weren't so slow paced.

I'm so bored of playing as just Sonic, and yet a lot of fans are like "YOU HAVE TO MAKE THE GAMES JUST LIKE THE OLD GENESIS GAMES!!!"

i mean i guess just going fast is fun??? but i want to do something new. playing as sonic's friends isn't inherently bad as long as there's something to do and it's not stupid as hell.

It happens. I mean, sometimes I feel like people get a misconception that because someone is open to RPing porn that that must be all they want to do.

Or that the mun will inevitably lead it in that direction.

not even bothering to anon because i'll likely be obvious and i don't really care to anon anyway, i guess.

my viewpoint on the matter is this: if someone wants to rp porn, that's totally cool. if someone doesn't, that's also totally cool. i think the important thing here is remembering boundaries. i break it down like this:

1. if someone isn't into rping it, don't bug them about it. don't pester them to rp porn, don't start linking them porny things, don't start implying those kind of things, etc. etc. don't overstep boundaries unless you're given signs that it's okay. it is never okay to push sexual topics on someone when they aren't into it. never, ever okay.

2. if someone is into rping it, this is not inherently a bad thing. not everyone will be the type of porn rper listed above: pushy, creepy, and overall overbearing. some people are generally very careful about it and will only play with those who are absolutely, 100% okay with it.

personally, i am (or at least i am trying my damndest to be) this kind of rper. furries and smutting with furry characters are a bit of a rocky, controversial topic, so i'm especially careful about it with other sonic fans. i especially notice the misconception, too, that every sonic porn writer will force it onto someone or make it trail into that direction no matter what.

unfortunately, i will say this: the sonic fandom is bad. come on, who can even deny that it's a festering shithole of godawful fans everywhere we turn? so i can understand the misconception. i get where it's coming from. i assure you, however, that not all sonic porn fans are that bad. eugh, if i had someone pushing that shit onto me if i wasn't into it, i'd be fucking horrified. even as someone who is into it, if i got pushed into something furry i wasn't into, i'd be pretty wigged out, yo.

basically, it comes down to this:

please don't push.

please don't be a massive fucking creep goddamn. (BIIIG IMPORTANT ONE because wow sonic fandom is a major creep magnet.)

and, on the other side of the coin, please don't automatically assume and judge just because someone rps from sonic and isn't always work-safe. i promise we're not all like this. i totally get it's a ymmv topic, and i will totally always tread lightly in case someone ain't into it, because, y'know, gotta respect.

um, goodness, this turned into a massive raving two cents here i guess. i hope this doesn't particularly offend anyone as i am definitely trying to understand both sides, but i am massively open to agreements / disagreements / debating / whatever, of course!
