[D] You dirty bird

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Concerns?

Hey! Do not post anything outside of these threads. It will be deleted.
Go be cute and fun and fun and funny over here.

Generally agreeing with what's been said so far. I've played withdrawn characters before, and had them sometimes flop, sometimes go really well. Right now I'm on a good roll with my current one.

- Building CR with more outgoing characters is essential. If you've got canonmates, that's awesome -- if you don't, it's going to be a bit tougher to get involved, but OOC communication and plotting are your friend! If your character makes friends with someone who's outgoing, it will naturally lead to your character being in situations to meet other people. There's your road to CR.
- Very few people are total 100% all the time isolationist. Even intense introverts (I am one) will occasionally feel the need to seek out company, or will have a topic they really want to talk about. It's more likely to be a topic of substance than light chatter, but it'll exist. Make yourself up a list of a few things that your character has A Lot Of Thoughts about, outline what those thoughts are, and look for an opportunity to use them.
- Similarly, think about what kind of things might draw your character out of their shell. Most games will be putting your withdrawn character in a situation they never could have imagined, and it's possible even with extremely quiet characters that the intense change of scenery and stimuli will affect their likelihood to interact with others. Figure out what pings them. It could be someone who reminds them of a person they care about back home, it could be a situation that reminds them of the past, it could be something as simple as "Oh, someone is talking about swords - I like swords! Let's talk shop a bit."
- Consider if different methods of communication will alter the way your character interacts. Most games have text, voice, and action possibilities -- use them! (As an RL example - when I'm in person and talking with my voice, I am never even nearly this wordy. Typing makes me use many more words than speaking does.)
