Behoove yourself in ways that bronies don't. Politely acknowledge the neighsayers without agreeing to their slander. Listen to criticism about your portrayal with an open mind.

Keep the use of memes to a minimum. You don't need to throw out "twenty percent cooler" every comment, or randomly use "anypony" OOCly. Talk about things other than MLP. Be respectful of anyone who says they just don't want to play with the character, and just leave them to their own devices. Really, it's not that hard to avoid being lumped in as one of "those fans", and that goes for any fandom. Just be chill about things and you should be alright.

Don't threaten people with rape that don't like X pony for any reason.

That'll help avoiding the stigma. Other things that help is no "lesbianism" (romancing male ponies would be okay, but keep it canon compliant - its a children's show, so nobody would be gay. Only do romance if the character had interest in a male pony, and keep it to that one), no sex in general, and don't call everyone anypony OOCly.

Don't use pony memes OOCly, don't talk about how ponies made you understand friendship or any shit like this, and don't immediately cry about lack of tolerance when someone doesn't tag you or does not like the canon.

And if someone dislikes bronies, don't go white-knight them.

In other words: Act like a regular, normal person.

Then? You'll be like everyone else playing from cartoons. You'll do fine, just act like a human being and not a crazy fanboy.

I really wanna RP Inazuma Eleven, but the fandoms kinda elusive and it's kind of hard to meet people who'd do it with me. I hear everyone who actually cares about it is on Tumblr, bu Tumblr is scary to me and I feel still a little awkward using it.

What games allow you to app fictionalized version of historical characters? Not like, the serial killer dude played by Mischa Barton that some dumbass did a while back, but people from 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' or 'Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson' or '1776' or things like that? Long dead historical characters.

<username=paradisa> has a number of those. Cesare and Lucrezia Borgia from <i>The Borgias</i>, Geoffrey Chaucer from <i>A Knight's Tale</i>, Caterina Sforza from <i>Trinity Blood</i>, etc.

In the past they have had Anne Boleyn, King Leonidas, Queen Gorgo, Giacomo Casanova, Governor John Ratcliffe, Jeanne Antoinette Poisson, Christine and Lea Papin, and Leonardo da Vinci.

I'm looking for a game that breaks the usual jamjar mold. I've played in a few jamjars these past few years and I'm looking for something more open now. Preferably something medium to fast-paced, with some events and an overarching plot. I also tend to play antiheroes and villains, so something that would be welcoming or even just accepting of these kinds of characters would be awesome.

Is there anything out there right now that sounds right for that?

I'd really like to app Jade Harley (Homestuck), but I'm worried about a couple of things. Namely: a) that I'd fuck up her characterization, and b) I won't be given a chance since Homestuck fandom has... a less than stellar reputation. People have suggested Tumblr, but I can't keep up with RP there, it's too confusing/fast paced. Any thoughts?

Honestly? I say go for it. Yes, the fandom has a reputation but there are plenty of rational Homestuck fans/RPers out there too and honestly, so long as you're not setting out to deliberately cause drama then you should be sound.

As for worrying about her characterisation, maybe try her in memes/museboxes for a while first? That way you'll get a feel for playing her against other people and whether you're happy with your grasp on her (and maybe any problem areas you'd like advice on before you app into a game).

Short version: it won't hurt to try. If it doesn't work out it doesn't work out, but you can have fun trying in the meantime.

I've played with Homestuck players in LJ and DW games before and been cool with them in spite of disliking the Homestuck canon. The one thing I would strongly suggest would be having an opt-out permissions post for text quirks. Part of the Homestuck fandom's reputation stems from the text quirks, so if you're considerate about them, people will appreciate it. Use video or voice posts when possible, too.

Honestly, I would say to go ahead and app Jade into whatever game you like. As long as Jade is given a three dimensional personality and getting actively involved in things in the community, people will tag you.

Kinda wanna rp Dirk Strider from Homestuck but I rped Dave a while back before the fandom exploded and people were kind of douche-y about my playing then. I know I'm a good player and I could do pretty decently at him but I'm kind of nervous about the high standards DWRP has towards Striders in general.

Plus, well, Homestuck and it's reputation in general makes me hesitant to get back into rping from this series.

Not sure if this is the right spot for this, so apologies if it's not. TL;DR:

I'm looking into getting back into RP now that summer is here/my job is slow, but I'd prefer a place that is relaxed on tagging. I have a job that leaves me on call more or less 24/7, so it'd be nice to get into a game/dressing room with people that understand/can sympathize with slow tagging. I'm also a bit rusty on my RP/haven't been around the scene for a while, so games that are open to that would be wonderful (I didn't even know that the general RP scene moved over to Dreamwidth until a couple of weeks ago - I thought everyone was still on LJ).

What are your suggestions, anon? I'm open to most concepts (no horror/gore themed, if you please), and smut is okay, if that's a deciding factor.

smashacademy anon here! If you don't mind some slice-of-life with plenty of room for more serious plots (we're starting up something a slow-going, undercover drug plot at the moment, actually) I'd love to see any of your characters! AC checks come around only quarterly and are extremely easy to pass.

I have some really odd-ball working hours as well, and sometimes I can only get to tags on the weekends, or once every few days. Smash has been really great to me for that. I've found most of the game to be very generous with back-tagging (I've back-tagged some logs for months and months with no problems), and if I've ever had to drop or hand-wave something, players have been equally as understanding.

And we have a LOT OF Persona, PW, TF2 and MGS fans in the game, so I'm positive any of your characters would be extremely welcome!

I'd thought I'd already tagged here but am wrong.

I'm seeking a spot to play Loki from the MCU. I know there's a pretty sizable stigma attached to Loki but, well, I'd like to give him a shot anyway. I guess I like trickstery-villains.

Are there any organized games out there that would like a Loki? Or, heck, a villain-type? I sometimes feel bad sliding into games that aren't used to bad guys and being That Kid who makes her toy dinosaur smash all the Legos.

Preferences: Plot-oriented! Some slice-of-life is fine but I like games where I can really get into ongoing plots and CR. It should also be a game where a bad guy can do well. I know from experience that not all games are suitable sandboxes for villains.
