The Harem post in TLH made me want a game where the characters are held captive somewhere

like a prison camp or a menagerie on an alien planet

and they have to try and band together to fight their captors and escape

I was thinking this exact thing. Alien planet zoo. In which new arrivals are always proceeded by loud construction sounds and parts of the exhibit being blocked off.

Horror game

I mentioned the idea of a Lovecraftian-horror style game last meme, and here (https://docs.google.com/document/d/19t3MA3gcw45D3Nrgw0FRWxW7ZUTphmSOY692XPfNe3g/edit) is some brainstorming I did to try and get some ideas down. Nothing concrete, but I'd love to get some input/critique/advice <:

It's of interest anon, but I find the city used too much in a horror setting when there's a lot of other creepier places. Not much a Lovecraftian fan, but I do love some psychological horror and games like Silent Hill were small towns instead of bustling cities.

Swamps in particular give off a creepy vibe for cults and mysteriousness, think there's a story set on one that's of Lovecraft.

And body horror, it's common place with cosmic entities and people can get very creative with it. Stuff like stains to extra limbs that aren't human.

halloween horror nights game

in summary

- based off the halloween horror nights scarezones/haunted houses as actual worlds

- characters are shunted unexpectedly from one 'zone' to the next without warning

- will return randomly to worlds they visited before but things have changed (ranging in severity and unsettling, like 'all square windows are now round windows' to 'your safehouse you made last time is now on the other side of town with half your stuff missing' to 'well now all the chandeliers in the town hall are made of skinned bodies')

- options for dropped characters to be made part of a certain scarezone as a local or as one of the Icons' lackeys (ie one of Mary's orderlies or a zombie in a zombie zone)

- encourages players to be actively horrible to their characters, as if or when they snap and die and are too 'jaded' to continue on as they are, they will be revived missing those memories that made them go crazy (keeping previous CR, but not the horrible shit they went through), as the Storyteller buys those memories off the Caretaker for unknown and horrible purposes

- when characters die and return they get a little bit of an 'edge' in power, and that power takes a definable form depending on what actions they take (eg if the character prefers subtlety, the power might manifest as the ability to move silently and at speed - this is up to the player)

panfandom dr

I know people keep talking about it, but I would love a panfandom/anything goes dressing room. I've seen a couple places pop up that died really quickly, and with the number of people who keep talking about it, honestly if we just start playing somewhere we could easily make it active again. Like, consider thedressingroom or thepillowfort or infinimotel. A bunch of anons could pick one, get together, and start posting, and by increasing activity draw other people in as well.

idk I just keep wanting a panfandom dressing room and not finding any active ones :(

Something I'd like to see would be a dressing room meant for "normal" characters from normal, slice-of-life canons/soap operas, either with them interacting in a physical space (e.g. Tokyo characters in Tokyo, travelling overseas for a vacation and meeting characters in New York) or as a messageboard type thing.

Dunno how it'll work though, beside the usual handwave over language barriers. Mostly I just want it for the cross-canon CR, what-if-everyone-was-in-the-same-universe kind of thing.

Harry Potter things...

Not sure where to put this, because it's not exactly advertising, but it's not exactly just an "idea" either - the game's already set up, and nearly-but-not-quite ready to go.

I'm thinking of reopening this (http://accio-rp.dreamwidth.org/profile) game in around mid-August. The game originally closed quite early on, as it was getting difficult to keep a game running with such a small number of players. Now that there's a little more space for a new HP jamjar (at the time of Accio's original opening, there were a few new games opening, including another HP jamjar that grew considerably bigger), I thought I would try again, because I still think it has potential!

The general idea is that this jamjar takes place during the Harry Potter series, starting from the Prisoner of Azkaban. Characters are drawn into the world (specifically the UK) through a piece of dark magic gone awry, and all - even the most normal of people - seem to have untrained magical ability. The Ministry of Magic are at a loss as to what to do with them: they can't be left to their own devices, and they can't exactly be easily integrated into wizard society either.

Eventually, the decision is made to educate these Outsiders, while at the same time restricting their freedom to Hogwarts and Hogsmeade. This proves to be a highly controversial decision, as who wants a bunch of unfamiliar people with unfamiliar and potentially dangerous powers to be plonked in the same castle as their children? It's not even the only controversial decision made, as this is also when the decision is made to station Dementors at Hogwarts.

The game is designed to be generally laid back, but it has a bit of a focus on wizarding politics and xenophobia as well. It will explore the effects a jamjar situation would have on the story of Harry Potter, altering the course of it along the way.

I'm posting this in the Game Ideas thread to see if anyone has anything they would like to suggest, point out things they don't like, and maybe even find someone willing to help with mod duties.

About a year ago someone made a RPS about wanting a game based on the song. I loved the idea then and I love it now and would like to gauge interest in a game set in a haunted California hotel. Perhaps elements of The Shining, Twilight Zone and other supernatural fiction could be utilized. Would people be up for something like this?
