Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for fictional character role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

maybe i'm lucky but the check in games i'm in right now are way faster and busier than the ones that require ac. i think it's less about activity requirements and more about having a game with a setting that's actually fun to play in...

How old is dwrp trending these days? Are any of the "old-timeys" from LJrp still floating around? Every now and again I revisit the thought of rejoining this hobby, but things feel different now.

I hate KYWTP.

I've only gotten lucky about four smut threads throughout all the times I've used it, and one of those times happened several years ago.

Too many ghosters and flakes.

There are! Even a couple of games from LJ are still chugging along.

The culture's definitely shifted. For me, it's largely been for the better; more mellow when it comes to the creative side, but less tolerant when it comes to shitty behaviour OOC. As always, though, a ton of that depends on just who you're talking to and where you're playing. The easiest way to jump in now is bakerstreet, but it's pretty hit or miss. (One thing I do pine for is open museboxes/dressing rooms.) A lot of games have pretty elaborate TDMs, too.

It's just as multi-fannish, even if the fandoms themselves are different. How easy it is to get CR with a lesser known character varies as much as it always has.

Things feel a little more flakey than they used to, but I chalk that up to most of us being older and busier

a lot more of us than you'd think, yep.

it's different in that it's a lot harder to find a game now, since most are private/invite only, and games don't blow up into 200+ character huge size anymore. you can't just rely on making a post on the network and raking in boomerangs all night anymore. which is fine, if you aren't the type to lazily wait for everyone to come to you for tags and cr.

I want to try writing smut and have tried several times on some memes on BS, but every time, I always get cold feet and back off since I have no idea what I'm doing. I wish I was better at writing it and was less nervous about doing it.

similar boat, anon. i just tell myself it's like any other type of writing: read and write privately to figure out what works for you, and no one else can magically sense you're unsure unless you tell them. if they're tagging back, they want to write with you!

rping smut is just like fucking in real life: if you're enthusiastic and you communicate properly with your partner, you're already doing a good job, and if someone doesn't like your style, they just won't do it with you again, and it'll be fine. i say this with all the love in my heart: don't sweat your technique, anon, just channel the enthusiasm of someone seeing a hot person topless for the first time. you'll be fine, i promise!
