This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

anon i hate to break it to you but it's almost never "effortlessly." they're probably putting in a lot of legwork in places where you can't see it.

they also advertised as slow paced, so just because players are posting a lot doesn't mean they have to get to the darker shit right away.

tbh I think they haven't dropped the metaplot yet because they want it to be a slow moving plot. there have been mentions of future plans in faq answers that clearly show there ARE plans. don't think the mods were expecting anything so big or so much engagement since usually if a game has no AC nobody prioritizes it

but the most important thing is the people playing there are having fun

four months to have any horror or a dark mission in a dark horror mission game when we've had: a dragon attack, horny plant mission, energy potion mission, fairy ice skating and story telling, and fluffy dandelion pollinators is ridiculous

Definitely flexible on the particulars, like why it happens. Some spitballing:

* He gets massive gambling debts and is offered this as a way out
* He stumbles on the wrong website
* He's already had some genderfluid tendencies but it goes way further (and faster) than he intended
* He's a misogynist cad and someone makes a wish for him to learn his lesson
* etc, honestly this is just making shit up, I'm flexible, let's chat

This could be magical in nature, it could be more realistic (surgery etc); he could think of himself as male the entire time even as he now has big tits or his gender identity could change as his body does.

I'm completely canonblind to this, anon, so I don't have any thoughts on this specific flavor of vampire, but sure, I'm definitely down to play some sort of vampirism/supernatural element going on! you might have to walk me through the specifics over PM since the wiki is a little dense, however :)

doing a google image search, some of these look pretty inhuman, and I'd like my guy to stay still, you know, recognizably human-looking after all is said and done, but that's my only real caveat and I'm willing to give it a go!

I've not heard "highlander" used in rp, but I'm guessing it's similar. Power gamer, min-maxer. They want their character to be the strongest ever. In D&D, they focus on perfecting their build/stats and tend to ignore story/roleplaying. In rp it would be similar, always wanting their character to win/be the best.

In rp, this can overlap with meta gaming, where you let your character know/use ooc knowledge they shouldn't have to come out on top. I think they're probably separate terms, but players that do one often do the other. Some people use them interchangeably though.

i thought highlander in dwrp meant 'there can only be one', i.e. a person who gets really obsessive over a particular character, considers themselves to be *the* authority on the character, has a canon username/plurk/whatever, etc. over invested to an unhealthy degree

From what I know of the term, Highlander is usually used to refer to someone who wants to be the only version of that character. They dislike other people playing the same character (say, they play Bucky Barnes and get real unhappy about the other Bucky Barnes out there).

Sometimes these people can turn out to be real assholes if their rp partner is tagging another version of their character, played by someone else, and at the worst side of things, they can chase off other people playing that character (or even thinking about the character).

There can only be one is exactly what it means. Just like the movie.

anons, what are the active fandoms currently? i don't mean in dwrp, i mean in general. i miss fandom, reading fics and looking at fanart. my old ones are dead and the few things i've tried to get into lately have been too small for a fandom or i didn't get into it

Any icon makers out there who do edits/alterations with caps? Character I’m playing is an OC from a horror story who’s supposed to be covered in blood more often than not but his PB is squeaky clean even in the horror roles I’m capping him from. I wanted to commission a full set, but I only need about ten to fifteen icons where his face is covered in blood.
