This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

was reminiscing about the time I tried out forum rp years ago and copied the link to the game I tried

i rarely on a few occasions get logged out, but i just open the ljlogin and reclick my character and i'm good until the next weird spasm. it only happens frequently when i'm trying to edit my journal through the customize setting (new format, new layout, etc). other than that, i'm usually solid on staying logged in.

Commenting again about this as I'm still slowly refining the contents of the comm! Someone on the last post commented that I needed to include the definition of powergamer, amongst other things, and for that one I'm not entirely sure what it means. Is it the same as a highlander? (Which, now that I'm thinking of it, I should probably also include.)

are inbox notifications working for anyone else? i randomly decided to refresh a few threads of mine and saw i had received replies, yet nary a notification is in sight

this seems less an issue of someone not being honest about their discomfort with noncon, and more an issue of someone wanting their character to be victimized so badly that they're willing to retcon a consensual thread into a noncon thread to make it happen.

i'm not sure there's any surefire way to avoid a situation like this, other than to look really closely for red flags. does the other player like making their character a victim so they can be comforted by their cr? are they always starting ic drama? if so i wouldn't attempt to play any sort of darker kinks with them, but you can't always tell these things.

I've been seeing complaints here and there, it seems like they're being spotty. I've even seen someone comment they're not getting alerts in the DW inbox OR email.

You and a friend are opening a game. It does fairly well, a decent amount of apps for its opening, but you notice that one or two of your prospective players has you blocked on plurk. You know this for certain.

You have interacted twice at most. In some cases, never at all. You've never even heard of them outside of seeing them get

s in a mutual's plurks.

You are not an anonymous mod. You are head mod.

How do you handle this? Let the friend play messenger? Use the mod plurk to get around their blocks so you can answer their questions? Refuse to let them in because of a dozen different issues that could come up re: blocking a game's mod and explain why? Simply decline them with no explanation?

it IS possible they aren't aware you're head mod, i rarely go look at the mod page if i'm being honest. it also may be that they blocked you for a reason you're not aware of. that being said, you're in an impossible position, because the block made it clear they didn't want to interact with you, and now you're in a position of power and responsibility.

i would pm them in case they weren't aware who was modding and inform them of who you are and that you're trying to be respectful of their choice to block you, but that will be impossible in this game.

outside of that you are under zero obligation to allow anyone into your game and if you're uncomfortable with the fact they blocked you for no reason you know, you shouldn't let them in.

feeling that emo angst of just wanting to drop all my games and threads and leave dwrp. I feel like when I’m very enthusiastic about a thread and love it, the thread ends up getting dropped.

i feel this sometimes when i want to burn everything down and leave dwrp. what helps me is picking up a new character or getting a new thread but idk if that's an option.

i just got a notif in now (1pm) for something that was sent at 830am, so they're slow as shit. i'm guessing there's a code push to fix the captcha or something like that.

the mods seemed to imply there was a darker event on the horizon to match the actual advertised premise it's just taken 4-5 months to get to that

this is the way to go. i've seen people block others and admit to it because 'they talk too much in so and so's plurk', or they're on some wanker's flist, or they replurk a lot of things and it annoys them. that last one, i kind of understand. some people are perpetual echo chambers for scammers and people whining for money every month, and it's easier to just block them and not see virtue signalling.

that said, it's your game, you're the head mod, so pm'ing them as the mod, not as 'the party' to say 'hey, not sure if you're aware, but you've blocked me on plurk, so if there's any reason you'd like to not continue conversing with me, that's perfectly fine and this will be a one-time comment, but if you're apping into my game, it's going to be impossible to avoid discussion. so if you're going to keep me blocked, i think it's for the best of both of us if i decline your app to avoid issue. i'm not saying this to force you to unblock, but i feel i'm in a sticky situation here, and i'd rather avoid it if you feel you have a valid reason to keep me blocked.'

any particular role or just any? even if he doesn't end up working for what i have in mind, i'd still be happy to stare at his face and make icons :')

obviously you don't have to do this but keeping it neat helps too, either as a collapsible menu (example: https://bigplace.dreamwidth.org/2528.html?thread=3040#cmt3040) or as replies with the canon as the subject to a top-level comment titled AUs

i've found that people in memes want to rp but they also don't want to waste their time. stating clearly that yes you are familiar with their canons and yes you're open to x, y and z has never hurt me. also if you have an au reference up act like your character belongs in their canon, reference their canon. people are more compelled to rp with others who are familiar with their canon, it's a compliment thing
