rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

it's okay to put this down, anon. i can't promise that other hobbies won't bring their own drama, and that other friendships won't sometimes bring abusers into your life, but if this has become a toxic place for you it's okay to step back.

it might be scary, it might feel like there's nothing else to fill that void. but there can be, and there will be, with time and putting yourself out there. you can't take it all back, but if you want to make a change, there are lot of new memories ahead of you to make. you're always allowed to change your mind.

i'm sorry that you're going through it. venting it is healthy, whatever you decide to do.

assuming she's an rper too, if the only thing she's "thriving" and "getting off scot free" is getting threads on dwrp then like...... ok? this hobby isn't that serious. it's just writing in the end. the irl stuff you went through though, i'm sorry that you suffered like that and i hope you can get help to unpack that. but it isn't going to be in an rp woe thread where you explode at a person who was being perfectly kind and understanding

if you don't want to talk to faceless strangers, i get it, but i'd really suggest you talk to someone. even if you don't think they'll understand. there are resources for SA out there, and you don't have to give more details than you want to. ive found RAINN really helpful, with the disclaimer that I'm based in the US. I don't want to discount the rest of what you're going through, but from what you've said here, that experience has shaped how you see your time here and the hobby.

don't worry about being polite or nice or whatever to some rpanon replier. that doesn't matter right now. there are people out there who want to hear about how it feels, and some who have felt it with you. there are communities out there. when you have the bandwidth, you're worth trying to find it. that doesn't have to be tonight.

you're right that no one understands what you are going through because they aren't you, but this anon isn't patronizing you. they have nothing to do with what you feel, or what you are going through. it is not on them to understand you, and like others have said, you need professional help that a hobby cannot give you. i'm sorry about what happened to you, but a bunch of faceless anons in a public comm is not where you should be sharing this.
