Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

There have been games in the past that have been restricted to only certain mediums, but they usually baked this into the premise some way, like a training school for video game characters, for example. So if you wanted to build a game like that, I don't think you would get any sideeyes.

But if you made an otherwise normal game and then banned LA characters, especially if you said it was because you think it's weird to use an actor's real face, then yeah sorry but you are going to get some heat for that. There are going to be people complaining that you don't have any IC/OOC divide (as has already happened), or people just generally put off by a rule like that. And really, just banning LA wouldn't get past the issue you're having. Is Elliot Page's character from Beyond Two Souls appable, even though his character from Umbrella Academy isn't?

Oh yeah, people also bring up a good point that this makes it more difficult for anyone who wants to play a character that doesn't have a visual adaptation, since, unless you're drawing your own icons or commissioning them, it is much easier to use models/actors for OCs and book characters.
