rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

I wish people would put some kind of identifying thing in their char journals..

Identifying as in sharing their player handle so you know if they're someone you were trying to avoid, or identifying as in explaining who the character is

explaining the character... it's so hard to tag blind :/

the amount of times people have tagged me in memes and do not have the canon they play from ANYWHERE in their journals is ridiculous. i have to piece through their info posts or their character name field to get a name, and then google the character name and hope that it's the only character or that the icons are recognizable enough that i can narrow it down.

someone tagged me once who didn't have the name field filled out and i just had to add them to my thread tracker as ??? because they just assumed our characters knew one another and i had no idea what their character's fucking name was for the entire thread.

Nah, I had an rp stalker make it all the way to my irl social media once and I had no crossover between fandom and irl online at that point. No one needs to know who I am behind the character.

nayrt but genuine q if you're willing to answer bc i'm sort of in a similar situation except the stalker is a third party;

how would you in your position react to someone you told not to tag you before tagging that character bc they don't know who you are based on the lack of ID in journal?

I almost tagged someone who asked me not to on a brand new journal with no ID, and was only able to discern it was them by chance— i think my stalker might be a buddy of theirs, so I'd be kind of terrified if they unknowingly relayed the fact I tagged them to said buddy.

would you end up DMing them to clarify who you are or just not responding to their tag at all?

ignoring an unwanted tag seems the best idea in the first instance. if they keep trying, i'd dm.

but honestly on the other side of it, if someone who gave me a dni starts playing from a journal with no identifying information, it's not my fault if i accidentally tag them. i always check player names when tagging out to randoms, but if it's not there? i'm not psychic. that's on them.
