i apparently have a lot of thoughts about this series because my brain won't turn off now

to refine the description of the premise a bit: 20 years ago a tower appeared out of nowhere and to climb it people had to beat each floor. at the top of some floors are bosses or dungeons thay are extremely difficult or gimmicky (so tower climbing). some guy who kim gongja is extremely envious of is a famous and very arrogant climber who is known as the #1. shit happens and that guy kills kim gongja, but earlier he awakened a power that lets him copy one skill from whoever killed him

the guy had a skill that let him go back 24 hours before he died. kim dongja decides to go back 20 years, 24 hours at a time, just so he can kill that guy before he gets his skill

at first he uses the ability to learn and strategies, figuring out everything that happens on a floor and about the inhabitants. he genuinely wants to create a good ending for everyone and cares about the people, whether they're climbers, npcs, or bosses. he also doesn't wanna be like the other guy and does the reverse of everything he did

just an example, but say he's in a swordfight he'll learn one step at a time. he'll learn where they swing their sword first, counter it, figure out where they strike next. or he'll use it to understand the pain someone else might've gone through to understand them better

another layer is he can see his killer's traumatic experiences and uses this to understand the antagonists and sympathize with them, because in most cases they didn't start out as bad people

this is what's annoying about the promise later, they get rid of his step by step learning and he suddenly can run everything perfectly in one shot. to do this he falls into the typical isekai power fantasy trope and it gets rid of the shades of grey in favor of focusing his empathy solely on his wife

i tried to keep up with it after the romance but ended up skipping to the end, but it descended into a mess of gibberish and plot holes
