the problem has never been shipping and smut memes vs gen memes, though. the problem is no quality control. a 100% gen meme comm is fine but it's going to suffer from the same dilemma: too many crappy memes no one wants to tag.

someone give us a curated meme comm instead. only memes that tend to do well and a backlog of suggested new memes to filter in maybe twice a month.

i thought everyone knew this. when a dogshit niche smut meme gets posted and nobody tags it, isn't it obvious that people who like smut memes weren't interested in it, and it's just the poster's individual fetish? why is that worse than people who post niche gen memes that nobody tags in?

what's the answer, do we ban niche memes? how is that decided? sometimes memes that get posted semi-regularly explode with comments and sometimes they don't get any traction.

I know I wouldn't have cared if it weren't for the maladjusted plurkers. Hope the comm does well but some of yall nuts.

Drawing something made me remember old plots that were in my head long ago. I then wondered how common was it.

Do you have some RP arcs for a character or more than you wanted to play with, be them of a handful of threads or something lasting for a long while, that you weren't able to do for any reason? (Characters developing differently, focus on others, situation never came up, lack of time or partners for it, etc).

If so, what did you have in mind for said arc?

i mean yeah maybe don't let people post something like a naked tickling meme (this is made up, probably) every week when all it gets are a smattering of top-level comments but no threads?

my suggestion would probably be to go through three months' worth of bakerstreet memes and see what does reasonably alright, like if it got at least 10-20 threads going or something.

Hey. I slum TLH as well, and Bakerstreet actually turning low-brow would be awesome. No worrying whenever if your RP sucks or not, just doing what you like. Obviously as long as you don't breach boundaries.

I like these definitions, this is basically how I think of these games. Some private games are invite only, but not all invite only games are private, which imo is what games like Folkmore are.

it also sucks because so many shipping/smut memes are dead but some freak keeps beating that meme horse

- Back in the day in one ancient game by now, when I wasn't sure where would my character go, I was kind of expecting some sort of terrible revelation about her canon, which would have made her reject her allegiance to them. While at first it would've made her go into utter denial of who she used to be, in the end, I wanted it to become her path for freedom.

- One of my itches of roleplaying a character from a SOL canon becoming a legitimate heroine and badass was fulfilled thanks to a friend of mine, and I couldn't be happier for the character development we gave her through a long-running PSL. That said, given she'd basically be like the Hobbits returning to the Shire after their big quest (in that they feel isolated from the rest of their community after the things they saw and did), I kind of wanted some short arc of her canon friends achieving something similar, so they know and can follow their friend through that same path.

13/30 = .43 (or 43%)

17/30 = .57 (or 57%)

- character bonds enough with his long lost brother to avert said brother's heel turn & them killing each other. because of the canon sitch it would've been like a found family arc but... with actual family

- making an antihero better and less selfish, but only accomplishing it by giving him maladaptive horror game coping mechanisms and codependency on his cr

- character completely rejects her chosen one role due to cr development and becomes more independent, less naive, and less anime protagonist self-sacrificing

Honestly, I might private plurk one or two of them since we're pretty good friends, and I don't think they'll bite my head off or anything for asking. I was just hesitating cause I don't want to make it seem like I'm pressuring them or guilting them into staying just because we have close CR. Like, yes, it will suck to lose them but there's nothing to be done if the spark is gone.

-Try to go a full month without buying fast food either in person or over DoorDash. I spent far too much money over the past year doing that and it's time to kick the habit.
-Write some short stories and see if they can get published by some small anthologies. (Shoutout to the BRB, Writing Discord for putting up a lot of spots taking submissions!)
-Go back to church or at least watch the live broadcast of it on YT every week.
-This is a family one but try to get them to finish The Clone Wars on Disney+ so we can finally start some new Star Wars shows.

i always had a hard time tagging out to others but it's even harder nowadays - i don't know characters/canons and how to start things off

but my toplevels aren't getting responses either so i'm just going to have to force myself to do it if i want to have any tags at all

don't really mean it as outright complaining but it is something that kind of sucks. maybe i'll hit the right meme at the right time and get a response soonish, or getting out of my comfort zone will spark a really good thread, who knows

please tag out. otherwise, this is the rp player equivalent of pillowqueening. you don't just show up and hope to be fawned over and not do any of the work. tag out. a lot of people (myself included) notice people that never tag out and sometimes avoid tagging them because memes are already low effort and if you can't put in that much, what fun is tagging you at all going to be?

literally the worst that can happen to you when you tag out is a) someone asks you to please not to, or b) you get ghosted. this has literally happened to every bakerstreet player. it's not a death sentence. people that don't tag out are one of the key problems with bs.

that's actually what i'm excited about more than anything - just that there's a fresh space for this sort of thing and we don't have to worry about the shipping emphasis... any kind of content is fine with me but if you scroll through bs nowadays it can definitely blur together a bit
