why is anyone shocked? this is just a microcosm of DWRP and it's what happens with every capped game

the mods should have made this round women only if they wanted to balance out the genders, but clearly they don't have a problem with the town being Bachelorville

yep

personally if I was running the game I'd have it capped at 30 men, 30 women, 30 kids (so each "family" can have a complete unit)

each group would have apps open until the cap is reached, so even when the game has 30 guys the apps for women and children will always be open until those spots are filled

someone who had a Pleasantville game planned out a while ago put forward the idea of offering an extra free month of ac to players apping in needed characters

if it wouldn't make entitled players of male characters froth at the mouth, some Ladies' Night-style allowances to encourage apping women into games would be interesting

iirc, zhautas had a month of female characters only/extra spots for female characters. it didn't go over badly.

Or speaking as someone who already wants to app a female character but hasn't finished canon reviewing, it'd give me time to get a proper app together instead of trying to decide if I want to rush it because who knows when I'll be able to app in again.

It’s not a sex game, so I don’t know what the problem is. Most people ship with friends characters anyway. Having several wlw and mlm characters isn’t really going to hurt your chances of finding a het ship.

it didn't need any solutions, so thanks for your useless input. if the mods wanted the traditional nuclear family structure followed that'd be a factor put into the app and part of it as plot. it's not. there's no plot incentive to following the traditional family structure. it's there just to add a welcome mechanism to people coming in the game and as part of their housing mechanic. let people app who they want and play what they want in this 'family'.

and if you have a problem with it go take it to the mods, or take it up with the people who reserved whom you seem to have a problem with. you're creating outrage for no reason at all.

the only outrage I can see here is yours, anon. everyone else is having a decent discussion about how mechanics like this might work better if they were taken into account, for everyone's benefit.

I hate to use this word, but quit being so defensive and learn to scroll if you don't like a discussion instead of coming in to shut it down just because you don't think it should be happening.

This thread started with complaining about the reserves page being a sausagefest and accusing the reserving players of being only in it for yaoi. There were ways to have this discussion without dragging reserving players like that and basically saying their characters aren't wanted.

Yeah there's some decent discussion going but don't pretend there's no reason why someone might see this thread and be upset.
