I'm sorta been in dwrp for a little bit now, but i've only been a meme player. Mostly because I play from.... not exactly obscure canons just ones with waning popularity because they've been over for several years and even when they were "new" they weren't quite as popular as other fandoms of the same medium (animanga)

So If I was to app some of my characters to games, is there anything I should know as someone new to games/would be lone canon warrior-ing likely? I already tend to not get many bites with my characters on memes, so i'm worried about actually making AC.

I'm also a tad bit nervous of the apping process, especially since i'm SURE the people running games now are 100 percent going to be canon-blind to my muses, and i'm worried of bogging down my apps with TMI assuming that.

So, thoughts on good friendly games with relaxed environments to ease myself in?

While the app cycle for DataBurst has just ended, it’s shown itself to be a really welcoming game for obscure, odd canons so far, with very little issue of medium divide—there’s even a character from an off-Broadway musical building some mad CR. It might be worth jumping on the TDM at some point, this month or next.

If you're looking for smut rather than gen, Erku's been good. It can take a LCW a little longer to get settled with deeper CR, but the app process isn't too difficult.

As someone who plays OCs mostly lately and faces some of the same challenges getting started in a game as a LCW:

Tag out A LOT. Assume you'll have to do the legwork to get people interested in your character, which usually means being the one to initiate almost all of your CR in the beginning. Don't assume a lack of early engagement is necessarily anyone trying to brush you off or let you down easy -- it just takes longer for people to engage with a character they don't already know. You've got a leg up on me, at least you won't have to worry too much about people secretly going "ew LCW" the same way I used to be afraid of people going "ew OC", at least! (It might have been a baseless worry but boy did it make my early days in my current game a mess of paranoia until I chilled tf out about it.)

That's another thing: don't psych yourself out too hard about any of this. Most DWRPers don't actually care that much, which can be both a good thing and a bad thing. Even the fact that the mods will be canonblind isn't really that big a deal. Guaranteed they have plenty of people come through who they're canonblind to. Not even mods are up on all the latest media, so it's really not all that different from them having to approve a character from a game they don't play.

It can be frustrating, but if you love the muse you've got enough to stick out the slow early days, it's worth it. Basically, you've got this more than you think you do!
